Jazz would be bending the Warriors over backwards if that happens. 4 picks from a team that will likely not be very good with no depth and have all those picks and players? Yeesh.

lol Basically every WC team bc they have CENTERS.

If Griff is considering Lauri its not to man the Center position, rest assured. He would definitely trade for Kessler too at that point or the throw in of John Collins as the backup 4/5 and still go find a true Center.
Like I stated it would be WITH Kessler. But you think they’re not going to start Lauri at center?
Posted on 7/2/24 at 3:03 pm to Pels_Yaz
NO they are not starting Lauri at Center... You will be giving up Trey for starters in any trade for Lauri. Kessler starts at Center and Lauri at SF. If Lauri starts at Center, I can tell you this.... He wont be resigning with the Pels.

So now you’re assuming Trey is included in the trade? And we’re not starting CJ and putting Lauri at SF? And if he starts at center he wont resign with us? What the frick is going on lol

Ihart/Chet - Hartenstein requires a 5, Zion/Trey can gaurd Chet
Gobert/Towns - Zion destroys Gobert every time he plays him.
Zubac - requires a big body 5, but he doens't really scare you offensively
Lively - just requires someone willing to box him out. He has no offensive game
Nurkic - not worried about his slow arse. he can't stop Zion.
AD - Zion needs to learn how to play post D and keep him out the paint and make him shoot jumpers. putting a slower guy on AD means he gets to the rim and scores.
Sabonis - Can't stop Zion, and Zion successfully defended him late in one of our games against them.
Looney -he doesn't even play
Sengun - worst defender at the 5 position in the league. Zion destroyed him.
Kessler - requires a big 5, Zion had a lot of trouble against him.
Edey - don't care about a rookie
Wemby - not big enough, like Chet, Zion and Trey can defend him, and no that's not me sayng Wemby sucks, just that he doesn't require a traditional 5 to defend him decently.
Ayton/Clingan - require a big 5

If the Pelicans go after Lauri, I think it would be a deal similar to what Jake talked about on Locked On Pelicans this morning. We would try to work a three team deal with BI going to Sac and Utah netting 5 first round picks along with salary filler.
If they do something like that, the goal would be how would all of those teams in the West guard us. It's one thing to say that we couldn't guard them, but the bet would be how do they guard us. A five of Dejounte, Herb, Trey, Z, Lauri would be insanely difficult to guard and while it wouldn't have a big body five it would have insane athleticism and length. That would be the bet the Pels would be making. I'm not sure its a bad bet either.

Who/what do you add to:
Murray/Herb/Trey/Zion/?
That lineup needs length and rebounding, but there's also not enough shooting. So if you add a center it needs to be someone like KAT or Lauri. There aren't many options. I really don't want to go all in for Lauri, but I also don't really see who we are saving the chips for either.

Some of those names
Jokic, Wemby, KAT, AD, Sengun have usage rates that can take over games. Jonas was a turnstile against those guys anyway. It’s not like we still don’t have to bring in more beef at the 5 too. Schematically you get creative
In the same breath, they have to guard Lauri. He can do some things with the ball and gets to the line too.

You think Danny wants a lateral move or better yet a lesser player from his perspective in B.I. over Lauri? And Danny will want a bona fide prospect who can be part of any rebuild. Hawk aint cutting it. Danny might take back less picks but Trey WILL be included.

This is where I am as well. We need shooting and length. Lauri gives us that, he fits the timeline, and he probably has another level he can get to on a winning team. The key would be Gayle being okay with the finances and being able to fill out the roster. Getting a guy like Kessler or Collins back with Lauri would help. For it to work we would need Dejounte to return to his SA level defense and of course, as with everything, Zion has to develop into a top 10 guy. There are definitely worse ways to spend the assets.

Gayle has NOT shown the propensity nor given the inclination that she is willing to "go all in" on a team, let alone one that has done nothing yet to suggest they are worthy of going into the luxury tax.

Thats not a given. Everyone thought Herb would be included in Dejounte trade and he wasn’t. You need to stop assuming you can read minds.

I know he’s a little small for a full time 5 but he would be a great versatile big to add potentially cheap

I also don't know why Ainge would be excited about giving Murphy $30 million a year to tank.

I fully expect Dejounte to get back to his San Antonio defense on this squad. Its hard for any perimeter players to look like exceptional Defender's when you have Trae as your backcourt teammate. That forced Dejounte to have to guard the best perimeter, taller guard and put him at a slight disadvantage than him guarding PG's in San Antonio. With Trae bricking shots on many nights this past year, that led to countless transition buckets as well.
Go read Atlanta message boards and you"ll see their fan base knew Dejounte was a good defender but hamstrung bc of Trae.

Would take him as a backup, I wonder what the deal is with him in Philly? It's not like they have a ton of talent on that team right now. I know they added Drummond, but he could play some backup forward for them too.

We don’t have the ability to absorb his current contract without sending someone out.
That could be as simple as a sign and trade of Matt Ryan or someone else we still hold rights to.
