I just think if you were critical but fair, coming into this summer league Hayes' floor was pretty low, even if you thought it unrealistic for him to go that low, as there are a lot of promising athletic big men with raw skillsets that flame out every other draft.
Hayes, I think, showed he won't be that(barring injury). He might not be Tyson Chandler with a three-point shot like some of his biggest fans project, but it seems like his floor is probably already at a Nerlens Noel level(with a better frame and better FT shooting), and if that is your starting foundation, that's pretty solid.

That’s just fricking insane.
I, too, will admit I was wrong on Hayes’ potential concerns. Never posted anything, but was not in agreement with all of the excessive hype people were putting on a guy that I really only saw as a long, athletic freak. What I saw last night was insane. He was a clear step above the rest of the competition. And he’s got so much room/time to develop! Not been playing basketball long at all!
That being said, I was extremely high on NAW and boy did he deliver! Really great court vision and a propensity to look for open guys. He wants to facilitate and has the skills to attack/shoot when needed. Supremely confident, as well. I am absolutely stoked to have both of them and pray NAW makes his way into the roster.

I only watched the highlights but what really stood out was his off ball movement.
We all knew he was an athletic freak, but his points didn't just come off of put backs.
He showed he has a good basketball IQ and the ability to get open.

His foot speed and body control are elite. Haven’t seen a big move that fast in quite awhile. He moves like a guard in space.

You mean like a wide receiver

As a high school football player, Jaxson Hayes had a slight problem that was only getting bigger: His body.
He was getting taller. An extraordinary growth spurt shot him up to about 6-foot-7, and he was taking a pounding at wide receiver.
"They were going at my knees and back and stuff," Hayes said.
Basketball beckoned. His career on the court was about to take off. And it hasn't stopped.
From a 6-foot, 125-pound freshman, to a 6-10, 200-pound senior

Dude reminded me of AD when he 1st came into the league. I need to go back and watch some of his Texas tape. Wondering if he was underhyped because he didnt go to a Kentucky/Duke.

He does have that long arse body and those soft hands. He needs to grab more rebounds but I love his activity

He was underhyped because he improved so much during the course of that one year at Texas. He wasn't very good at the start of the season, so his stats for the year weren't that impressive.
This guy is improving so rapidly.

Oh they fricking did, LOL. They wanted Garland or Hunter. NAW was not on their radar and they bitched all draft night etc.
Hunter has been terrible so far too hahah.

Yeah, I think Hayes showed he belongs and raised his likely floor, which is not something you typically do as a rookie one game into summer league, but he did it for me. And he did silence my worst concerns.
I thought he looked great. The only reason I even brought up the negative stuff was because the person who started this thread tried acting like this was a slap in the face to people like me.
He dunked the ball and blocked shots. No one questioned his ability in those areas. And as I pointed out, the guys around him were draining 3’s. If anything, this game proved me right as for as my argument about how players fit together.

Giannis once went clear over a 6’6 dude Vince Carter in the Olympics style, on an alley-oop, in a regular season game in Madison Square Garden.
Also, just in general, seeing someone ask this question and use Giannis makes me question how much you actually pay attention to basketball.

It’s almost like people forgot that Gentry wants to run. A pick and roll with him and Zion is going to be insane.

Hey remember when people melted over the Jaxson Hayes pick?
If summer league was the real league, Marcus Banks would be a perennial all star.
That being said, his performance was encouraging
