re: Hey remember when people melted over the Jaxson Hayes pick?

I haven't said anything positive or negative about the draft (aside from cummin-4-Zion). Mostly just sitting back and hoping for the best from the front office. I'm thrilled that Hayes did as well as he did, and I'm excited about his future, but it's going to be much tougher for him to do some of the things he did against legit NBA players. He's clearly an elite athlete, doe. I really do hope that we can pair him and Zion for at least 5mpg this season, running some P&R with two of Moore/JJ/Miller out there. Not necessarily to help us win now, but to help the frontcourt develop for the future.
NAW, however, made some plays that I think won't be as effected by better talent. Few guards can stop that fade-away jumper, and one of those guards that can is on our team. Few can affect those ridiculous passes. I know that he's not an elite athlete, but looks like someone that will develop into a player that can stick around the league until his mid 30's. Good size if he can mostly run the offense/defend PGs.

Oh I was In that shite.
There are some fit guys who won’t believe we could ever find 3 other shooters to put around them.
In transition and in the pick and roll together Zion and hayes are going to be terrifying.
shite Blake Griffin and De’Andre Jordan together pretty well. Add more shooters we’ll be ok

. As good as yesterday looked, one summer league game doesn’t make a career, one summer league game doesn’t really change my opinion of a completely unrelated player that I came to conclusions on by judging him in his own context. I do still think he has all star potential... And while I think yesterday
for me raised Hayes floor notably, I still think Hayes has a long road to go to reach his ceiling
quote:
All that said, if you want to anoint people after one summer league game, that is your right, I’d caution it though
I think everybody see's him as a project, nobody is saying he's good to go right now..
You're cautioning now not to anoint him, which I havent and didnt on draft night. But I would rather be cautious in bashing him on draft night and right after before even seeing him play one summer league game. I said that if we traded down, it was because who was there at 4 wasnt the fit we wanted, and if the guy you want can be had later on, you might as well trade the pick for more assets and draft from a spot you feel comfortable getting your guy at. Thats what the team clearly did and I wasnt going to hate on the kid for it.
My opinions of him havent changed. You after one summer league game went from his ceiling being Noel to his floor being Noel.

I mean, like I said then, like I said today, like i’ll say now, I hope I eat the whole crow on that.
I dont doubt that you hope to do that. Like you said about my comments on Kuzma, I hope to eat crow on that as well. I would take Kuzma straight up over Ball or Ingram right now but I, like you, are going to support the guys we got and hope we are both wrong.

A pick and roll with him and Zion is going to be insane.
A pick and roll where defenders can just sit back cause neither guy can shoot? That’s an interesting idea lol.

I was one of the few on record that was excited about the trade and picks.

Hey look, it’s a rational person with a reasonable opinion. Don’t see that much around here anymore. Thank you sir.

He made a couple of nice passes tonight

Wow, his shooting form is actually not that bad.

I’m glad we’re past some of the silliness from last night BUT, I have to say.....At no point in his NBA career has Kuzma looked better than Ingram, and not really Ball either when you factor in defense. So I really just do not get this argument whatsoever tbh, and I’m trying to be accommodating.
Kuzma is and has been up to this point an entirely average player.
A tweener that doesn’t rebound, facilitate, get to the line, or play defense. Who has so far only been an average to below average scorer from an efficiency standpoint. And I just don’t really see anything from a skillset perspective that makes me stand up and think his ceiling is much higher than we currently see. Except that he will have Bron and AD drawing defenders so he can benefit in the way Moore did in lineups with Jrue, Ad, and Boogie.

This is laughable. Go back and read.
Guess it was on a different forum then. Reddit, maybe. I thought it was here. I had some bad takes during the whole AD trade and FA targets, but drafting Hayes was the one thing I hit on.

You love you some 4th year players.
You’re judging finished products vs potential
And at a college level.

indeed. And you get any two of those 4 lower firsts i named for the 8th pick.
Windler and jerome are really slick.
Windler is 23 yrs old.
Probably a 5th yr senior.
We'll see.
Ill take two really slick actual basketball.players over a big guy two years from a go to move.

I heard dunking on people who won’t be in the league ever is cause for celebration!

You’re right. We’ll be dunking on Lebron soon and he’ll be out the league soon enough.
Go Pels!
Go Pels!

I’ll admit that the draft didn’t go as i was hoping for but i said i trust griff. Obviously our FO knows what they are doing and get benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I would Say there is probably a reason most NBA teams don’t take 5th year seniors from mid majors.

Pels had better options for this season. There were players that would make a bigger impact in yr 1 and probably yr 2.
Pels arent building for now. The expectations aren't too high for next season. This is a team that can compete for 8 seeds now but is truly being built for 2021 season. Hayes fits that completely.
In year 3, barring injury, Zion will be an All Star and has All NBA potential. Jrue will still be at peak. Hayes will be filled out and more skilled/experienced. Someone from the collection of NAW, Ball, and Ingram will likely pan out, if not multiple.
Favors could be a key contributor. We have plenty of picks that could either be used or traded for proven assets.
I love how we are building and drafting. It is a true strategic and planned approach, not just a rushed BPA with each transaction.

I completely agree. I think this is a team that will be a title contender by year 3. We just need one of Hayes, Ingram, Ball, and NAW to develop to All-Star level. That seems likely. Teams with three All-Stars are title contenders, just by definition.
Year 1: make playoffs
Year 2: win playoff series
Year 3: make conference finals
Year 4: make NBA Finals.
