He's going to play out the last year of his contract and be allowed to walk in free agency...unless someone gets super desperate at the trade deadline.

Griffin, the used car salesman, full of excuses.

It means he'd rather let BI walk than swallow his pride and look bad losing a trade of BI's caliber.

Basically the already all in teams who would be desperate enough to pay BI $50 million are off the table with the new CBA because of restrictions like not being able to take back more money that they send out. The 2nd Apron teams are even more restricted and can't send out as many draft picks.

He's not lying or wrong. What he's leaving out is that the mechanically capable teams have no interest or don't have the assets.

No good team can trade for BI, because of the the CBA restrictions. No bad team will trade for BI because they are not a BI away from competing. We need to hope a team like the Pacers last year rises up quickly and tries to cash in on an early run and trades for him.

Should have moved on from him after last season like some of us were wanting.

Not trading him last offseason could go down as one of the more colossal blunders in team history, and that is saying something

He walks after Pels win the title. SKC gets remodeled and street it's located on is changed to 14th street in honor of Ingram Finals MVP.

we're really running it back again except this time it's with 3 ball dominant dudes instead of 2.

had to know it was all lip service from griff. he is who he is. when this roster fails to achieve anything more than play in yet again this season he better reap the benefits of his hard work.

I listened to it this morning. I don't feel that is what he said. Griff said to teams that feel like they are 1 player away, and want him, but can't give out a contract, so for THEM, he is mechanically incapable of being traded because those teams are mainly 2nd apron teams or smaller markets.

There are teams that can trade for him, but aren't a "Brandon Ingram" away from competing so they won't give up assets to trade for him.

Griff has been on a media run since the Murray press conference setting the expectations that BI will be on the team this upcoming season. He's always been strategic in how he releases information and he's been very open about it since he's been front and center again in the media.

It was always trade BI with an extension for max value or no trade at all.

Everyone knows you need to have your playoffs roster locked in by July 16.

Also, wasn’t there a blockbuster trade just a few weeks ago?

They are going to have two new starters out of five at minimum. They've removed rotational players in Dyson Daniels, Naji, Jonas and Nance. They made one of the biggest trade acquisitions in the league in Murray. Lord, we are two weeks into the offseason.

And this team just won the second most games in their 22 years in New Orleans. There is such a disconnect from reality for some.

Another one off thought. That BI guy is good and helps us win basketball games.

Griff is so full of shite. What he is actually trying to say is that we waited too long to trade BI, and while he thought there would be a market, like the Pels, the other 29 teams also do not want to give BI a 30% max, but he is blaming it on the new CBA becuase that's en vogue at the moment for execs.

Well, he’s not wrong…

The CBA restrictions mean that he either has to be traded for someone making roughly the same salary (if a 1st or 2nd apron team) or has to be sent somewhere that will not want to extend him because it doesn’t raise their ceiling enough.

We are probably going to keep him for the season then help him sign and trade next offseason unless the Nets want to throw money at him or another team clears a ton of space,
