Because ownership would almost certainly say that we've already agreed to this deal and you're accepting the job under these circumstances.

Thanks.

So Knicks no worse than 5, but only if we must pretend they finish last.

With 30 games to go they can easily finish 4th.

I wonder if the Paul/Bron/Magic play was hoping we would panic and take what we can get or just plain arrogance.

Maybe both

I think it was just a hail mary on their part honestly. I'm kind of curious if Magic finally told Lebron's camp to STFU, you're only making this much, much harder by pissing them off.

Is Kyries dumbass really going to frick this up for us? Him leaving is the one way to throw all of this off the rails.

Yeah I would love that deal. I really like Jonathan Isaac. He can be scary once he puts it all together

Still talking to multiple teams. But it will be the Knicks or the Celtics, and the deal will be finalized in late May/Early June. Draft Lottery in May 14th.
Is it safe to assume this means the Pels and Celtics have not agreed to a deal to be consummated in July (with some contingencies)? Any idea if Boston is definitely willing to include Tatum?

Negotiations 101... try to prop up Tatum as this huge asset to no end. Even if you damn well no he's going to be included at the end of the day, it may help save another asset from being included by you whining so damn much about this other asset.

Lakers wont be able to fetch what the Pels want. But they send them on the errand like a little dog. It's funny.

This will anger Lester Earl.

Example - Rozier and Clips pick to Orlando for Jonathan Issac. Then, in July its Smart, Tatum, Issac, 3-4 picks.
That would be sweet.

Well I guess that depends on if Kyrie likes Boston or not, and I think he does.

I think he has no problem staying in Boston, assuming they get AD, and if they don't get AD, I still think he still has a choice to make between them and the Knicks, if the Knicks can get someone else too, like KD, and they can have their own big 3. He's been pretty adamant lately that he's committed to the Celtics long term. Although this happened today:
quote:

On Friday in New York, Kyrie Irving was asked if his mindset has changed regarding re-signing with Boston: "Ask me July 1." He says he's going to do what's best for his career.

I think that means he's waiting to see what happens with AD first, but of course something terrible could happen and Kyrie could come out at the end of the season and say he's not resigning with Boston no matter what.
Other than that, the first domino that will fall is the trade of AD to either Boston or NYK, and then Kyrie and KD will make their decisions. I think Kawhi and Butler will have decision to make based off how the playoffs go if they resign or move on. other wild card is Klay, but i'd bet a good bit of money he's a Laker next year, and if not them, then he's a Clipper.

They wouldn't have any picks to give the Pels after the trade with Was.

The Knicks didn’t really get that much better.

They lost two crap contracts and a guy who refused to be the tank commander this season.

In return they got a defensive liability in Schroeder and two guys who will get cut / bought out in Jordan and Matthews.

They may improve on a game to game basis but keeps them from league scrutiny on sitting KP against his will.

Edit - Dennis Smith not Dennis Schroeder.

:jaw drop:

I don’t think Magic realizes he was politely told to frick off.

Giannis and Jokic... may as well as for a time machine and Tim Duncan circa 2002.

The way you play this is:

You call Ainge and tell him, "I will take you at your word. And here is mine. I will trade AD to New York on February 7th. The only way you can stop me is if you call on February 6th and offer your best and final package. If I like it, I won't trade him and we will commence the trade this summer."

Then I hang up. Ainge knows that if you trade AD on the 7th, he will lose Kyrie too. He has to unload his whole chamber.

Seems like a hard sell. It’s a ballsy risk. If you wait until the lottery and the Knicks pick 5 than you lost a lot of leverage (maybe two 1st rounders and/or a piece). However, if the Knicks pick top 2 than its on.

Seriously doubt that would happen either Knicks Or Celtics floor deals are better than the Lakers.
