College Football Playoff selection committee changes how it views strength of schedule

quote:

The College Football Playoff selection committee will put greater emphasis on strength of schedule in determining the field for the upcoming season.

quote:

For the 2025 season, the schedule strength metric has been adjusted to apply greater weight to games against strong opponents. Also being introduced is the record strength metric, which goes "beyond a team’s schedule strength to assess how a team performed against that schedule."

quote:

In the new metric, teams will be rewarded for defeating high-quality opponents and they won't be penalized heavily for losing such games. Conversely, teams will have minimal rewards for defeating low-quality teams but will be soundly penalized for losing such games.

This was announced right before the SEC schedule announcement. This was the last thing the SEC was waiting on to go to the 9 game schedule.

re: I thought Arkansas had bats

They should use Little Rock’s bats
quote:

If I remember correctly they ran this quickly which left the freshman TE who can't block on the right side and he essentially whiffed on the block.

This. Pimpton whiffed the block on 3rd down which allowed USC to crash off the edge and make the play in the backfield. Pimpton made a 14yrd catch on 2nd and 15 but because we went tempo on 3rd&1, he was still on the field and was responsible for sealing the edge. He's got to make that block, but whoever made the call to go tempo on 3rd (either Nuss or coaching staff) mismanaged the situation. If it was Nuss, Sloan needs to be in his ear telling him to hold up because we didn't have the right personnel, or they misplaced their faith in Pimpton's ability to seal the edge. Ultimately the fault lies on the coaching, IMO.

Pimpton didn't see the field last year because he couldn't block and we heard in the offseason about him making strides in that department, but clearly he's still not there yet.
Maason Smith will start. Should be all you need to know

By the time he is a JR he will be an elite TE in my opinion!
Heck the way Kelly emphasizes the TE position, he's going to be a stud for the rest of his career at LSU. He's already an integral part of the offense at 18yo.

His dad obviously has to be loving it and that kind of pub with former NFL players (especially ones that previously didn't have a connection to LSU) is going to pay dividends for us in the future.

Kid plays hard and does everything well. Love to see a freshman coming up big for us. Players like Mason make good teams great.

i hate the term 'young core'
Do you even read what you type? Or do you actually feel that way?

You agree that he decided to completely change his stance and throw his support behind a rapist who attacked a police officer with a knife (historical facts).

Drew Brees has significant influence. He was presented with this “issue” in a heated and polarizing political climate. He could have easily stood on his own principals and made an actual impact in this world. Instead he decided that winning more fricking games of a meaningless sport is more important.

You’re the problem too.

If you can’t see that, then you’re beyond help.

something will give. great number 65% completion rate. lots of attempts? ok.......

then we hear he was inaccurate in camp, bad footwork, and MAYBE has issues with reads?

shits not adding up. let's just hope he gets it done in games or else he will be benched and nuss will play.
It's because he tucks and runs a lot when passes aren't there or tries to hit check downs a lot. Not a problem with that, but a QB's completion % is going to be a bit inflated when he's not forcing anything. I'd be happier with a lower completion % if it meant higher yards per attempt tbh

re: football tickets

My advice to you is to first ask someone you know who is at least decent with computers and also familiar with LSU football ticketing for some help.

If that isn't an option, I'd advise you to email the LSU ticket office. Identify yourself in your email and describe your situation in detail. I'm confident they will be able to accommodate. I assume that if you can figure out how to post on Tigerdroppings, you know how to send emails (no sarcasm here, just trying to be helpful). The appropriate email address to contact is

tickets@lsu.edu

If you feel a phone call would be easier, the phone number for the ticket office is (225) 578-2184

Regarding parking info, i'm sure they'll be mailing you the parking passes, as those need to be displayed in your vehicle. Here is a link to football gameday parking info for you (they have printable maps):

Best of luck this season to you and our Tigers.

re: LSU 30 for 30 ideas

2005 LSU season is interesting given the Katrina aspect. One on the 2007 college football season as a whole would be cool.

Although a Joe Burrow doc (path from HS recruiting to #1 draft pick) would be awesome, it lacks a lot of the off-field drama which many 30for30's have.

Tyrann Mathieu (overlooked HS recruit to Heisman finalist to kicked off team to all-pro NFL player) is obviously a great choice.

With the way the A&M series continues to play out, it's definitely a solid candidate. 2014 was the blown offsides call. 2015 was "Les' last game". 2016 was the culmination of the 'coaching search' with rumors flying everywhere. 2018 was the 7OT game and on-field altercation post-game. 2019 was redemption and an all-time beat down. 2021 game winning TD pass by LSU QB who immediately transferred to A&M... I'm sure there will be more to come over the next few years.
I was in the student section for this one. I was mostly in disbelief after we didn't score originally, and also got clipped by a half-full dasani bottle.

I usually stick around in the stadium after an upset loss like that one to sulk for a bit and when they announced the penalty I was pretty stoked. After we scored it was pretty awesome being there. Place was going nuts. As many bottles and cups that were thrown when we thought we lost, there were even more thrown when we ended up winning

Back of my mind was the fact that we played so shittily after the Jefferson TD run. But I definitely felt like it was a win worth celebrating because it was so unprecedented.
quote:

What does this mean? He is moving into better(worse odds) to win the Heisman? That doesn’t mean much, what are the numbers?

Worse wager odds = the public / sportsbook thinks he is more likely to win

Essentially worsened or shortened odds means that the payout for a wager have gotten lower. Basically Breenan's previous odds to win the Heisman were +10000, so a $100 wager would payout $10,000 if he wins the Heisman. Now the odds are +6000 so if he wins the Heisman, a $100 wager would payout $6,000.

The article says because Vegas has been receiving more money placed on Brennan to win and naturally they want to reduce their exposure for upcoming bets placed on him so they have shortened his odds.
