“OK, Magic, if you can sweep the front porch, find three first round picks, and get us James Harden and Kevin Durant, we’ll send you AD and Solo.”

Why would the Knicks trade the #1 or #2 overall pick to rent AD for a year?
Please explain how the Lakers will sign AD in 2020. Include their plan for the 19-20 season.

The lakers offer is similar to ones you get in fantasy football when a guy sends you 5 players on his bench for a stud, hoping you just value quantity

Okay I read up more and I see that SFP is right about AD to Lakers in 2020 seems unlikely. It's probsbly now or never. I had listened to Bill Simmons last night and they were all mocking Knicks so that had colored my judgement

It is truly amazing how stupid most in the media are. Most have no idea that the Knicks are a big time player for AD. They just think they'll get to sign Kemba and Jimmy Butler this offseason.
What I hope is happening, and it appears that way, is the Knicks and Celtics battle for AD, and if they get the trade done before signing day, they pretty much set themselves up to easily get Kyrie to play on that team, and if you're the Knicks, you could get Kryie and KD to play with AD.
I'm in the frick AD train, but I think it would be great for the NBA if the Knicks got Kyrie/KD/AD.

The reason everyone is mocking the Knicks is likely due to their track record rather than what they are doing.
They cleared the board for two max FAs and are tanking this year for a high first.
It works out right and they are instantly relevant again given how bad the east is.
It doesn’t work out and they spend a ton of money on two over the hill vets. Again.
I still think that their chances are better than those of the Lakers this offseason because LeBron is aging, Magic’s a fricking clown as GM, and you still have to go through the Warriors to make the finals.
While Dolan’s an idiot, the Knicks this offseason are pretty much a blank slate for two players who want to come in and be immediate contenders in the east.

Gordon is the poster boy for that, but you have to assume that most players will have some level of professionalism or, at a minimum, play hard for their reputation, stats and future options. If you decide you are not a viable destination and limit your options to players who are enthusiastic about being traded to a small market team and grateful for the opportunity, you might as well shut it all down. Along with a dozen other teams.
You commit to building the best front office you can, go get the best players you can and expect to win. It’s an idealistic approach but if you decide you are a second rate franchise and a crap destination, you always will be.

safe to say they prefer Tatum over the Knicks pick?
Knicks pick could be as high as 5th or 6th after the balls are sorted out.
Knicks just got a couple of starters.
Just on odds, its not going to be the Knicks. The other lowest 4 all will have nearly identical one out of 7 chance.
And I recall teams with a very low chance twice moved up to a top 3 pick.
So
1. Knicks not guaranteed finishing last
2. Other bad teams have same Chance to get Zion no matter how few wins Knicks get.
3. Any team.in lottery could win a higher pick and move knicks "down".

yeah. reading that lakers forum was funny b/c about 10% were like "yeah i wouldn't do that deal either" and then about half were "LOL GONNA GET AINGE-RAPED FOR WORSE" and the rest were talking up ingram's recent play
once the knicks made the deal and it appears we were serious about not wanting their pieces, they started pumping up their pieces
it was a rollercoasster, but the best aside was talking about who handles the ball in a doncic, lebron, AD lineup

Knicks pick can go no lower than top 5, assuming they hold on to having the worst record....
More than likely their pick is top 2
More than likely their pick is top 2

Jesus Christ, I can’t hear myself think over the sound of Lakers fans beating off at that fantasy.
Posted on 2/1/19 at 9:06 am to teke184
they also kept talking about how everybody hates them b/c of how they win....when they get it together
this after pulling a "ok we can't get AD, on to Giannis" aside

They want to win and need AD (or KD) to sign that 2nd star
And they will need an AD commitment to sign the other guy
I think the Knicks #1 pick is most enticing & probably the best piece that anyone will be willing to move given the circumstances.
I still feel like Tatum isn’t a given in any deal with Boston. In my mind I keep seeing a Jaylen brown & picks centered deal
Entertaining a Lakers deal because Bradley Beal is involved would be ridiculous.

In theory, yes. But it'll make it tougher for them to land quality FA's when all the Lakers are offering is a 1 year deal while other teams are offering 3-5 year deals?

Not to mention, LA will have to be all in next season, they wont try to go into 2020 with a 36 year old Lebron about to be on a player option without either trading away everyone or landing someone or overpaying someone..
It's the Lebron way..
I still cant wait until they are relegated to trading for Kevin Love in the offseason in the offseason to watch Laker fans justify it hahah

just seems like that's the growing trend for players wanting to play with legit stars, they understand teams need their cap flexibility to an extent.

Knicks are finishing last, it's doubtful Jordan and Wes play a game for them. They will likely be bought out. Kanter is about to take command of the tank.
But really, we just need their pick to hit top 3. Can't go wrong with any of the top 3 this year. Id prefer the top 2 for Zion or Ja. Don't want another Gordan situation on our hands with Tatum so I'd rather start fresh. Like Crewz said, they don't know any better and are just happy to be playing in the NBA as rookies. Add our probable top 10 pick if we shut AD down and it's a good start.
