Some more interesting notes from CJ's latest podcast:

1. Larry Nance scheduled the team meeting.
2. There were "uncomfortable conversations".
3. CJ had conversations with Zion personally after his comments.
4. Zion has been doing extra conditioning before and after practice.
5. Zion and BI have been working together more to improve on court chemistry.
6. CJ says people are "growing up" on the team.
7. CJ says BI and Zion need to have the ball more and choose who shoots at the end of games.
8. CJ likens Zion effect to Jokic in the middle of the floor.

I also saw a media type mentioning that this is the first time ever that they can recall BI and Zion exclusively working together in multiple practices on a variety of things.

That is weird as hell, if true.

It is weird but it's alarming how little they have played together. One of them has always been out of the lineup.

Whatever we have to do. If the meeting flipped the switch and this team wants to make a run, CJ and Larry need to stick around for as long as we can afford to keep them.

Yea neither CJ and Nance will be off this team anytime soon. They are way too important as culture setting vets and leaders to this young squad.

Good stuff. Also a bit sad it took 5 years for someone to reach Z.

When you're as dominant as he's been without having to work and can still do it while being in bad basketball shape, it took several years of significant injuries before it brought him back down to earth and finally got him to start working like a pro. At the end of the day, he's still very young at 23, and it's good that he bought in now rather than later.

I don’t see it as sad, crap they’ve hardly played together. And they’ve both had varying degrees of success so likely didn’t see a need to change. Not to mention how young they are still, even though we see them as these “superstars”.

I can say before the Nuggets game, they were two of the ones out there super early working for a long time on the court. Zion is generally out there working in the games I have attended.

Whatever the reason, you can visually see the change, they are both succeeding and more importantly so is the team. Team success is way more important for them to get the accolades I am sure they crave.

Not an excuse, but we forget that this is a team of predominantly rich men under the age of 25. I was a dumb frick at that age, and we have seen with Zion that he is an absolute dumb frick. You don't figure out that the older guys know what they are talking about until you get a few years of experience.

We are a young team with young team problems. Luckily, guys like Nance and CJ stepped up.

One thing I find interesting is that Zion made a ver generic comment about this meeting, and Christian Clark on his podcast said that it did not go over well with the team that he made that public.

But then CJ gave all the very specific details of this meeting?

That's a weird dynamic.

I feel like everything Pels related comes down to the same 2 or 3 cliche answers, and this one falls under #2 and #3:

#1 - If healthy, we're good

#2 - It sucks that it's taken all these years and team meetings and whatever else for Zion/BI to see the light, but at least we're here now

#3 - Hopefully it's not just them saying the right things, but we see actual sustained results/changes

To be fair, CJ only talked about it because he was asked about it. If Zion said nothing, he wouldn't have been asked about it.

Not worried about it. Most of the time players meetings is a bad sign...but as someone pointed out...we're a very young team with a very young coach. That's not a slight at Willie. He's learning on the fly too. But the meeting has produced results, and we're a better looking team because of it. Here for it. As I keep saying in other threads....let this team be healthy and run it. Better for them to figure it out here and see it through than to figure it out here and take this breadth of talent somewhere else.

I watch this teams highlites now and don't recognize them at all Extra passes to the open man and finally some depth with the shooters. Great ball movement and the twin terrors of defense DD and Herb. Give me more team meetings!

Creating accountability peer to peer is how organizations are successful in sports and the real working world.

Willie can get on guys and have one on ones with Ingram and Zion til his head falls off, but if the dudes you're in the fricking trenches with don't call you out for what you should be doing then it won't mean shite. They're your brothers, your success is directly based of their success, and these conversations create accountability.

We've all seen the Last Dance. Jordan was that motherfricker. Phil was a great coach but Jordan would not let one fricking thing slide. It's why he's the GOAT.

That one person could encapsulate that much leadership and accountability is rare, most teams need 2 or 3 guys to create that, so to have Larry Nance and CJ do it is a blessing for us, because this team has the fricking talent to do something special this year.

Personally I love all of this. I feel like CJ is telling us straight up that he's knows it's bullshite too and we're working on it.

I like how CJ told Zion and BI that they, surprise, needed to actually work together to build chemistry. Him being able to say how he and Dame did it I'm sure made a difference which is why we've seen them working together every day after practice since.

This board tends to shite on CJ for poor reasons, but imagine if he wasn't here. Even where they currently are, which still isn't good enough, is partly due to CJ.

CJ reportedly played a big role in getting Zion back from Portland and helping mend the relationship with the team. If this works out, CJ will have been a huge reason why, regardless of what he does or doesn't do on the court.

Yup, this is why when I see people trying to put Larry or CJ into mock trades it lets you know who doesn’t know shite about this team.

I think at this point Griff may trade BI before CJ.
