All the people saying good riddance to NAW are absolute retards. Learned absolutely nothing from Lonzo leaving, no appreciation for a 6’6 guard that can dish and defend

100% not true but fun conspiracy theory: Fat Zion went to Portland and convinced CJ this was the place to be.
They agreed CJ would come to Nola if they both went plant based. It’s a win-win.

Damn Pelicans going all in with this trade
huh? This doesn't seem like an all in move.
solid deal if the pick comp isn't high

Josh is a winning player, just saying.
3pt Shooting has been our biggest problem for millennia. Hart is great, but we need the scoring. If CJ can keep making 3 3’s a game at a 40% clip, then this is a positive move….depending on the picks

Zion wanted an upgraded roster at the end of last season, now he's got it. It's all on Williamson now. No more excuses.

NAW is in his third season and shoots below NBA average from 3, can't finish at the rim, and isn't a high IQ player. He'll be lucky to ever be an average starter.

So I wonder if they are turning this into a 3 team trade with more players coming to Pels / Blazers?
Good thing is NAW can go sabotage a play-in rival with his terrible shooting and terrible turnovers.

I know tampering and what not. I just want to believe Zion wants to be here.
I dreamed last night that during CJ's press conf the lights went out and when they turned back on Zion was there shredded af and just said "missed me?"
THen I woke up

I think NAW will do very very well in Portland which will hurt me because I like NAW but damn he just couldn't get out of his own way in NOLA.
Portland has made Simons very good, Dennis Smith Jr serviceable, and Ben Mclemore serviceable. They are very good at developing guards.
Really liking this trade for us. I'll hate losing Josh and the energy he brings to the game, but it looks like that energy has started to build in other guys (including BI) so hopefully they can keep it up.

YOu guys do realize that to make the money work you trade Hart/Sato and then you have to add at least $3.2M to the trade, hence why NAW is involved in it.
and after that we are still $15M under the tax so we can use almost all of our TPE, which we probably need to do b/c we need another guard/wing player since we are playing two men down with Kira/Zion.
BUt using that TPE can be critical to next years salary and the tax line, so i don't think we can use too much of it.

I'm pretty sure Griff has it scripted to where in the intro presser for CJ he's going to say something like "I'm excited to be here and play with guys like Ingram and Jonas, and when Zion gets here we're going to be unstoppable." Then Zion comes out from behind the curtain and sits down next to CJ.

National media about to tell us how incredible Josh Hart is,
Hart is a great glue guy and there is a scenario this bites us in the arse.
BUT Hart is also injury prone, lacks that one skill, shooting, that we desperately need at guard, and isn't such a good defender or facilitator that it compensates for that and lets him be a long-term starter here.
Again, draft comp makes or breaks this for me. Sending out NAW and Hart doesnt. Not in the slightest

WOJ: We're getting Larry Nance and Tony Snell as well

NAW plays hard but he hasn't shown much improvement in 3 years. Still looks like a deer in headlights out there and is good for a couple of boneheaded turnovers/fouls each game.

quote:Simmons decided he hated trades based on large draft compensation because apparently its just a way from GMs to save their jobs. But, trade draft compensation away for real players and its a travesty and you're desperate.
Also Bill Simmons:

I’m extremely intrigued to see who CJ is as a player without Lillard next to him. We need different things from him.

Wow... That's a fricking steal!
