They’re going to move a pick and leverage their future again to make them marginally better this year. It not great news for us, but it’s inevitable. BronBron won’t let them sit idle and Pelinka has to do something.

I know it’s fun to joke about winning the Wembanyama sweepstakes, but I’d be absolutely ecstatic for another mid-lottery pick because chances are much better that the pick ends up in the 10-14 range. And honestly we should be happy with that as any additional value from the pick swap is lagniappe. Not only was there no way the Lakers were expecting it to actually swap, but the better we are the worse it makes them and their future.

If it’s a mid pick, roll the dice and see how shitty they are next season. They are one injury away from being really fricking bad.

Or wait until street clothes is on the bench for weeks as a time and watch the pick get better this year because you know its coming

The pick deferral isn’t until 2024, we have rights to swap with them this year, which it’s pretty much a guarantee we are swapping picks with them.

I say shoot for the moon. Let’s say this year the pick is 14. frick it, defer. They aren’t gonna do shite when street clothes Toní and LeBoo shite themselves and shite themselves they will.

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good and we are already so fricking deep. Does a mid pick move the needle? We’ve drafted like champs lately, but do we hit for a 3rd year in a row?

Now if that pick is in the top 5, absolutely!

cant defer this year (2023 draft) it’s a straight swap, yes or no. If lakers pick is better then we swap. Doesn’t affect the 2024/25 deferral option

You are swapping picks this year unless they somehow make the play in game, get hot and advance to a better round of the playoffs than us.

Everyone is looking past the best part of there recent winning streak...they think they have put it together. There greatest asset is Westbrook's expiring contract. We don't want them trading that for a better player on a longer contract (Beal). Give them false hope, keep this shite roster together, and we will be picking top 8

current draft order

LAL #6
NOP #25

current west standings

NOP #3
LAL #13

Lakers are 2 games back of west 8/9/10 BUT there are a few shaky and/or surprising teams ahead of them (jazz, blazers, kings, twolves)

the west isn’t that great this year. Good for the pels chances at playoff seeding, but it remains possible that the lakers could back in to the play-in just by being mediocre

They are beyond mediocre and their success, as it is, so far rides on Westbrook being 6th man and Toni producing.

If Toni goes down for any significant period of time, they’re fricked. And that is inevitable with him.

I have to think Blazers with Dame is better than the Lakers. Don’t know how Jazz will fair, TWolves you would think stay ahead of them but with the KAT injury could be a problem, lastly the Kings are the Kings but I like Sabonis out there and want to believe they make the #10 spot.

We truly just need one injury in December to any of the Lakers Big 3 to screw them over

No way Toni/ Lebron stay healthy playing 35+ minutes every game. They also have had 6 teams on b2b’s and one of the easiest schedules so far. It should come crashing down.

I placed a $30 bet to win $75 before the season that the Lakers would miss the playoffs. If I cash out now, I'd win $50. Should I accept the easy $20 or let it ride? They could always get hot.

then cash out.

10th is going to be within reach. they can beat the 9th and 7-8 loser.

pels started 3-16 and got through the play in.

Cash out...take $30 and put it back in your pocket. Then take the $20 (profit) and bet on the Pels to win the Western Conference. Last time I looked, Pels were +1500 or so. Do the math on a $20 bet...NOW...you can't be a net loser, and you've got an interesting bet to sweat...for the playoffs.

There's lots of speculation that the Lakers could be thinking about a big trade with the Bulls.

quote:

"The trade I saw on Twitter was Russ and both picks, one with light protections I think for DeRozan and Vucevic," said Zach Lowe on his podcast. "I can tell you 100 percent for sure that the Lakers have had internal discussions about that very possibility, if it would ever come up. "Not that they would do that. Let me be clear."

That's just stupid, as there's no way that the Bulls would take that deal.

But this is the Laker way: to pretend that they should always get deals skewed towards them.
