Makes it sound as if they have a deal in the works. Hope is not a 2 for 1 such as Turner and Hield for Westbrook and picks.
I'm not worried.
First of all, Westbrook has been playing a lot better. Without him, their bench would lack creation. It would just be guys passing the ball around the perimeter and then someone jacking up a contested 3 as the shot-clock expires. So, the improvement from a Westbrook trade would be a lot less than it seemed a month ago.
Secondly, a trade might help the Lakers some this season, but it will only improve the 2025 pick (deferred from 2024), when LeBron needs to use a cane to get up and down the court. It locks the Lakers into a losing strategy for years.
Finally, getting Turner would primarily be about making Davis happy, so he could go back to playing power forward. The Lakers' plan has been for LeBron to pass the leadership torch to Davis, and they want to make Davis happy.
But, of course, we know that Davis can't lead anyone.
And playing center this season has been a big part of the reason that the Lakers defense has been so great. Putting him back at PF means a return to wussball and will hurt the Lakers in the long term.
So, I'm not afraid of a Hield/Turner trade.

Heyward is soft asf. Terry is a nice piece for them, however. Would also allow them to move Schroder to the bench. I'd assume they will just spam high PnR's with him and Thomas Bryant and then kick out to one of their average at best perimeter shooters.

Crazy they cut him when they already lack shooting

That’s going to be a tooouuuggghhh set of games. Hate to see it…
Also, Toni is due to pull a labia muscle any day now. When that happens the Lakers will implode.

Remaining Lakers schedule strength: .510, 5th in the NBA

The Lakers have played 6 teams on their 2nd game of b2b. And we are 20 games into the season. They were also given a 5 day break which is almost unheard of this early.
What makes it worse is the teams they got to play on b2b: Spurs x2, Jazz, Clippers, Trailblazers, Pistons.

ESPN Sources: Milwaukee Bucks All-Star forward Khris Middleton plans to make his season debut vs. the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday (ESPN, 7:30 PM ET). Middleton has been recovering from July surgery on his left wrist. The Bucks are 15-5, second in the East.

@ORL
Wash has been playing well, they will be favored over LA I bet.
I had to give them someone. Lol
There are always games you think they should lose but get one.

Im not super convinced they beat Orlando.
Guys on that roster
7 ft
7'2
4 6'10 guys and a 6'11
Team is big

Orlando isn't good at anything. They have some nice players but as a team they aren't good in any category.

because they share arena with clips its easy to schedule b2b.
I wonder how many the clips will get.
does ny Knicks and Brooklyn also hit many b2b?
seems a big advantage.

The Lakers’ updated timeline on beginning to explore trade options is Dec. 15, and they are weighing three different paths, multiple team sources told The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know:
Path 1 is to trade Russell Westbrook, plus a pick or two, for a star or multiplayer haul.
Path 2 is to trade some combination of Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn and picks (one first-round and/or multiple second-round picks) for role players who better address needs and upgrade the rotation.
Path 3 would be two separate deals: one with Westbrook plus one first-round pick, another using a Beverley-Nunn-pick package.

I’m hoping the Bulls don’t tank and stay out of these talks.

Los Angeles wet dreams, as reported by Jovan Buha in The Athletic

The Lakers have been trying to determine if they prefer a smaller trade or a bigger one to address their need for better perimeter shooting and/or size, The Athletic previously reported. That includes deciding if they want to include one or both of their tradeable future first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 in any deal. The Lakers are reluctant to give up both unless there’s a trade or series of trades they believe will elevate them to contender status.
quote:
The Lakers are leaning toward option No. 2 or 3 at this point, the team sources said. That would entail making a smaller move to marginally upgrade the roster while retaining the possibility of following up with a larger Westbrook deal later in the season.
The Lakers are still evaluating their roster as they near full health, with the team’s upcoming six-game East Coast road trip a potential swing factor in how aggressively the front office dangles their first-round picks on the trade market, according to a team source.
quote:
Beverley ($13 million) and Nunn ($5.3 million) are both underperforming relative to their contracts. With the Lakers’ needs for additional size on the wing and a better complimentary big next to Anthony Davis, along with the roster’s glut of small guards, Beverley and/or Nunn are expendable. Packaged together, the Lakers could acquire a player or players in the $20 million range.

Who wants Beverly and nunn? Are they expiring because they have no value otherwise
Posted on 12/1/22 at 8:58 pm to ghost2most
All three are expiring.
The Lakers would be banking on teams wanting to cut long term liabilities in the process of tanking.
Charlotte is a possibility should they send out Heyward and other pieces, as previously discussed.
Other possible deals are ones with the Knicks for a variety of overpaid pieces (Randle, Evan Fournier, etc), Magic (Mo Bamba), etc.
Teams may want the Lakers’ picks but the only players I see being offloaded for any of these guys are overpaid trash like Duncan Robinson and Davis Bertans.

No one wants to them. Nunn is barely an NBA player now. Pat Bev is still a quality defender, but that ain't worth $13 million.
Nevertheless, I could see a team that wants to save a few bucks that has an overpaid big, use the Lakers to dump a few million in salary.
