Since Millsap probably isn't getting the full MLE the answer is probably. But some resignings that have been announced still haven't been completed yet so we don't know what mechanisms were used for them.

He was never going to come here for that, but damn anything under 1 yr 10 mil would have been a palatable prove it deal. Too bad he is an a-hole and would also prob steal developmental mins from Kira and NAW.

Yeah, I wonder if we would actually have taken him if he'd wanted to come.

I don’t think so, Griff if big on culture and I don’t see him bringing in an a-hole to our locker room of mostly young guys.

Yeah, that's getting a no thank you from me.

Hart+Sato+Gabriel for Hield is a lot to give up in terms of our depth, while taking on long term bad salary.

Gabriel is an 11 man at best in the NBA.

Sato is a very good vet that can play both guard spots but is better served off the bench with the occasional spot start.

Hart is the same a Sacto except he can be plugged in b/w 2-4.

The hope is if you are bringing in Buddy, he lockdown the starting 2 guard spot and you lose two high-end bench guys.

You can easily bring in more solid bench players, you cannot easily bring in an elite movement shooter with gravity. We caught a glimpse of what that can do with JJ. As impactful as it appears that type of player can be with Zion it seems worth over paying for. Especially when you can't get anyone to take your money anyway.

And if you're sending out Hart and Sato it should still leave enough minutes for NAW, Kira, and Murphy that you're not blocking their growth and development either.

And I look at it as almost nothing to give up.

Gabriel will not see minutes with all of our young guys.

We were already talking about Sato being a guy probably having to go out to bring someone else in.

And most posters here have been kind of assuming Hart wouldn’t be back anyway when talking about our roster.

So we’d be giving up:
- Someone who would be the first one cut if we’re at 16 players
-The guy just brought in mainly as trade ballast
-Hart who possibly doesn’t want to be here and we’re kind of assuming we weren’t bringing back anyway.

Yeah, if we pull that off it would be one of the better deals of the Summer for us IMO.

The gravity of Graham and Hield would be insane.

We might not stop anybody, but we will de dropping 150+ on at least a few teams next year.

It seems that this is the boat for most teams in the NBA right now, even elite teams like the Lakers and Nets

Gabriel probably isn't getting any PT anyway, so that's not really a loss.

As far as playing time goes, we would be trading away Hart and Sato for Buddy and an increased role for Murphy, Naji, and/or Kira.

I think you pull the trigger quick on that trade. Adding one of the best 3 point shooters in the league is a win.

I agree mostly with that, but i still don't like having Buddy under contract for 3 more years at $20M/yr average. Not so much i don't want what he brings, b/c i absolutely do, but I don't want the hindering his contract brings to improving the team. But hell, if he came here and started lighting it up with Zion, maybe his contract isn't that much of a hindrance. I also really want to see NAW starting.

I've always been on board with Buddy and going offense, I just worry about the acquisition cost and depth, and I just happen to be alone on an island that PF is a dire need.

Improving the top of the order is always more important than the bottom, I get it.

My concern with Hield isn't even about his contract or even his historically terrible defense. You can work around those issues. My concern is if he's a team player who will be willing to come off the bench if Green/Griff wants NAW to start and if he's even willing to play in a reduced role/minutes as well. He's going to be playing closer to 25-28 minutes here with a chance of the young players eating up his minutes. That's going to be the biggest thing since we really don't want any malcontent players with a big contract on this roster.

After this offseason where Griff was told no by everyone, what would his contract actually hinder? I see it as an "it takes money to make money" kind of thing. For someone better than Buddy to want to come here, say a Dame or a Beal, Buddy is going to have to show them that Zion + Shooting = playoffs. Then these hypothetical available stars can sell themselves that Zion + Shooting + the other star things I do = Conference Finals or better.

I think they'd start NAW with Buddy for defense and driving that Graham doesn't bring.
