Definitely feels like teams like the Lakers and several other big market teams always seem to end up with the best flows to their schedules.

Even more true when you look at the beginning of the season. The LA teams and NY teams had cupcake schedules to strat the season. Many many home games.

But it makes sense from a business perspective--starting the season off with your big market team doing well, in theory, would lead to more talking heads which would lead to increased revenue.

They just didn't account for them all sucking

Lakers are definitely playing better lately.

Westbrick seems to be better minus Lebron too. Then again, he still had 7 turnovers last night.

Lebron will play. He’s only sitting out for rest purposes. I’m sure he’s banged up but he’s not actually hurt

Sorry but I have to ask, are we still in the running for the Lakers pick this coming draft, or no?

I hate that we don’t have a pick in the top 10 - I’d take any player honestly - loaded with talent.

I’m sure after the season he will claim his leg was detached at the knee but he still played through it.

Yes, but there is very little margin for error and we're relying on teams like the Knicks to keep pace with or out pace the Lakers down the stretch. In addition to needing the Pels to beat the Lakers twice and out pace them down the stretch. Look at the lottery positioning after last night.

If the Knicks can't keep up, even if we stay ahead of the Lakers they'd be at 11 instead of 10. Getting the 10th pick or not could end up coming down to a coin flip.

The Wizards still have 1 less game and arguably have a better chance than the Knicks. We really just have to finish ahead of the Lakers and just need 1 of those 2 teams to have a better record. The Spurs could still some how pass the Lakers as well. Your post seems more pessimistic than optimistic. But I agree there is little margin for error.

I mean look at the remaining schedules.

Each of the 3 teams have 9 games.

The Pels need to go 6-3.

If any of those 6 are against the Lakers then i believe that if the Knicks can win 4 of the 9 they finish with a better record than the lakers

To the Lakers remaining schedule they have 4 against the Nuggets, Jazz, and Mavs who, with the Wolves, are all within 3.5 games between 4th seed and hosting in playoffs and 7th seed and hosting play-in.

Then 2 vs. our sons, and 1 each vs. Suns and Thunder. Sun's would likely rather knock out Lakers now than potentially have to face playoff LeBron. Thunder seems like an easy win.

Wizards beat the Pistons to make it a 4 way tie for 9th with the Knicks, Lakers, and Pels. One thing of note that I keep forgetting, Lottery ties are settled by coin flips. If the season ended today, it would be down to coin flips whether the Lakers finish 9, 10, 11, or 12.

Looks like Knicks are about to beat Miami...this is starting to look pretty good for the Pels

The Pels need to beat the Lakers twice.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get completely screwed by officiating though.

Knicks win. Big one. They’re playing a lot better as a team without Randle

This was with both Fournier and Barrett shooing horribly

Yeah, getting wins from both the Wizards and the Knicks last night was huge.

We need one of them or the Spurs to come through in order for the Lakers to end up in the #10 draft slot before the lottery. We need two of them to finish ahead of the Lakers to put the Lakers into the #9 draft slot.

The big difference there is that, if the Lakers end up at #10, there's still a 20% chance that one of the #11-14 teams could hit on a top-4 pick in the Lotto and push the Lakers to #11, and then we lose the pick.

But if we're one of the teams in the 11-14 spots it matters less. If our pick jumps top 4 we won't care as much about the Lakers pick being 11.

Probability math was never my bag, but 11 and 12 each have a roughly 8% chance of going top 4. Each is roughly 1/3 of that 20% chance that 10 falls backwards, so if the Pels are 11 or 12, that pushes that 20% odds that 10 falls back in a way that matters down to 13%-14%.

God can finally start loving the Pels by giving us 2 top 4 picks.
