My first concert was Elvis back in 1977 as an 8 yo at the Assembly Center a month before he died. It actually had to be rescheduled because he was sick. He was all set to come on stage, then the postponement was announced.
The first concert I chose to go to was Prince in 1988 in Hampton VA. EASILY the best show I've ever seen.

Aerosmith in Pine Bluff when I was 15. A girl on a guy's shoulders took off her top and twirled it over her head. Her breasts moved in resonant harmony. Tyler tossed her a harmonica.

May 11, 1983 Rush/Nazareth Rhein Neckar Halle Heidelberg, West Germany. Nazareth opened and I didn't like the dog pissing on a hydrant Rush concert t so i got a really cool Nazareth flaming skull with wings that my religious mom threw away.

Debbie Gibson at the Audubon Zoo.
My buddy's dad owned a bunch of record stores, so he was able to get us backstage passes, and 12 year old me was super excited to meet Gibson. But she cancelled all meet and greets because she wasn't feeling well.
I like to think its because she knew she would instantly fall in love with me.

ZZ Top at the Warehouse in 74*. Technically, I went to an Earth Day concert at UNO, but it was free. ZZ was the first time I paid for a ticket. Probably cost almost $6.50.... ripoff!!!!
*ZZ Top played at The Warehouse in New Orleans on April 12, 1974, with the 1974 show being recorded for their album Fandango!. They also played the venue on April 17, 1982.

My first show was Grand Funk LC Civic Center, 1973 I think. Couldn’t hear for days.
I saw them the year after that in Shreveport for my second concert. I couldn't believe how loud 3 people could be.
My first show was ZZ Top also at Hirsch. Head East was the opener for one of those and Wet Willie opened the other one. Can't recall which was which....things back then are getting a little fuzzy.

First actual concert was a free one - Better Than Ezra at the PMAC
First big concert was the following weekend I think. I won a 3 day pass to voodoo fest in '03 from the Reveille. I only went the 3rd day because there was no way I was missing a football game that season, even though it was LA Tech. I saw QOTSA, A Perfect Circle, and White Stripes all in a row. Was life changing.

I went with an older cousin to a big Southern Rock festival in Birmingham when I was 13. Everybody was there, but I can't really remember much about it, there was so much wild shite happening.
A couple of years later, I went to see Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker, Winter Brothers Band and The Cabe Brothers at the VBCC in Huntsville on New Year's Eve. That was much more tame. I had my girlfriend with me. I consider that to be my first real concert.

Tesla with Firehouse opening.
Pensacola Civic Center May 27, 1992.
My uncle (my mom's youngest brother...the "accident") drove from Mobile to Destin to pick me up and take me to the show. Then he drove me home to Destin and himself back to Mobile to make it to work in the morning.
