The best band from Louisiana is the meters.

Not even close.

But not a pure rock band, which is what the OP specified

I glanced through page 3. I like New Orleans Lady. Classic song from Leroux.

Lake Street Dive are always fun. Big talent. The Gourds are instant party. And have been a consistent excuse for me to wander off from the lameass folks I was dumbass to at be a festival with.

I searched Louisiana rock bands, just to close the loop, and Little River Band popped up. So I'm going with the Aussies as my favorite Louisiana rock band.

Yep, Barbara was something else and always found it interesting that Vance is Ellen's brother.

SMH at some of the responses in this thread, but hey, to each his own! I skimmed through kinda quick, but I just can't believe that 11 pages in I don't think I saw even one mention of Kenny Wayne Shepherd. That's my pick and by a sizeable margin!

You understand they say they are from Shreveport as satire?

Ralph Records in the late 70's seems so very distant. Special shout out to Snakefinger who's no longer with us and who may be one of the most underrated rock musicians of all time, and yes, I do understand and have the deepest respect for all of your posts.

Their show in New Orleans last year was my favorite of all of the times I've seen them live. 50th anniversary. Incredible.

Leo Noconcelli is no slouch as a guitarist. I was at a Meters concert in the 80s and the guys were belting out some serious rock that night in addition to therir other stuff. Leo could do as good a Carlos Santana as I had ever heard other than Santana himself.

As a guitarist he is very.....extremely underappreciated

The Meters are certainly the best collection of musicians.

When Better Than Ezra is your "Rock" claim to fame, this may be a conversation not worth having.

Why not focus on the genres Louisiana actually excelled in (jazz, blue-eyed soul, blues, etc). I still remember Mr. Campo's stories about being in LaRoux.

Can't leave without mentioning No Limit, Cash Money, Boosie, and the rest of our dirty souf rappers my parents didn't let me listen to.

Maybe because he wanted to discuss rock bands instead of other genres?
