I typically don't care if a singer or actor has no sense of reality with their politics. It's all part of the act to show their peers that they are part of the liberal club. But Mellencamp's refusal to stand up for the national anthem and, at the same time, acting like he should be a voice of the midwestern farmer is infuriating. I will not listen to his music again, ever.

To hell with Cougar and Springsteen. Both of their music got worse as they went on. I really like "Ain't Even Done With The Night" by Commie Cougar but that's it. I don't like any of Springsteen's raspy shite. Cougar is also an odd built dude. He tiny as hell, like 5'6 or 5'7 and has a huge whopper noggin. As someone posted, thinking he's some voice of the American farmer acting like he does towards are nation is a downright disgrace.

Wore out Rain on the Scarecrow when it came out. Lot of those songs are personal. Have not seen him live, though, as the others. Sucks Petty died; he had another 20 years at least. I think he would've made better music than the others, and probably would give Dylan a bit of a run far as overall quality.
