The Sunday TBA is gaining some legit attention.

Quint Davis has apparently stated that the act is going to be bigger than any of the ones already announced. DMB announced tour dates starting May 13th, so they are technically still in play though looking less likely now. A bigger pull than Elton John is intriguing. Maybe the Dead reunion or Prince are in play here?

If I had to guess it would be Prince.

Although if they booked the Core Four I will be at JF on the last Sunday.

Also, apparently Dave Matthews Band is announcing a tour later this week. So they are my official guess to be the TBA for 2nd Sunday.

DMB tour opens in Austin on May 13.

Was just coming to post this

If the lineup for Jazz Fest 2015 hasn't got you excited enough, wait until you hear this: there's one act left to be announced, and festival producer Quint Davis is stoking the flames of imagination.

"It's going to be, not necessarily a tall, heavyset person in terms of 'bigger,' but it's going to be bigger than anyone that's listed there now," Davis teases.

It's hard to think of many acts that are legitimately bigger than Sir Elton or the Who. Paul, the Stones, Roger Waters, U2, maybe the Dead. I guess you could argue Timberlake/Taylor Swift/Kanye but they would be kind of out of place at Jazz Fest.

makes me think someone who is physically small--Prince (arguably as big as the current lineup) or Bruno Mars.

Maybe?

The Grateful Dead are the most celebrated live act of all time.

Jazz Fest official tell us Davis was referring to the acts currently lined up for Sunday, May 3, the fest's closing day.

He clarified some. I guess the "bigger than Elton John" anticipation building kind of freaked them out a little, not to mention not wanting to disrespect Elton John.

I'm still expecting a big splash as he sounds pretty hyped up about it (and likely just needed to backtrack because of Elton John), and I'm in agreement that it sounds more like a solo act by the phrasing. But everyone's probably looking a little too hard into it. I think that 2nd Sunday spot has people more intrigued though because of past history.

What about a crazy name to throw out for a solo act?

David Bowie

I just cried a little at the thought. Throw in an Esau after Shaekdown.

But really, are the dead bigger than all the others? They are to me, but to the general public? I'm holding out hope.

eta - b/c I can't spell or type for shite in this excitement

To the general public I'd say no.
