I've worked my arse off this year and decided to treat myself to a new guitar but was not expecting it to be available until January/February next year. To my surprise I found out it was being delivered and arrived yesterday. I won't open it (ordered from Sweetwater) until Christmas but I'm feeling like a kid waiting for the 25th to get here so I play it. Pics from SW:

Very nice. I’d like a J-185 but I don’t think it’s at the top of my list right now. I’ve been looking at getting a new ES 335 but inventory is low all around.

I like how Sweetwater takes pics of their inventory. I’d be hesitant to buy anything featuring wood grain without seeing a clear picture of it first.

Hummingbyrds really shine as accompanying instruments. Great instrument to develop singing with your playing.

Getting a Boss Katana Air as a smaller wireless practice amp. Can't exactly crank the Mesa Boogie anymore at night with kids sleeping.

I'm excited as it should let me practice plugged in way more than I do now.

Picked up a couple D Kowalski Dark Genes as I’m in an apartment now rather than a house.

1/2 watt hand wired tube amp.

Got a new bass last year. I am starting a new bass build and will most likely get components for that at Christmas. That would be nice.

This pickup demo guitar I threw together last month got the "not for sale" thumbs up from the shop's CFO (my wife) just today. So this is my gift from Santa.

Body by USACG, neck by Fujigen, hardware by Gotoh, pickups by yours truly. It is among the best Strat-style guitars I have ever put my hands on.

The heavy relic paint simulates a worn pre-CBS factory custom order "burgundy mist" overspray atop a factory standard two-tone sunburst finish.

The pickups are my "Jeffbucker" in the bridge and an unnamed prototype I wound as its match for the neck position. The mini toggle simultaneously splits both humbuckers into single coil mode.

I need to give myself the gift of binding repair in my Guild. I've got scotch tape holding it together right now.

I've been eyeing a few of the different MusicMan 4 string bass they've got on Sweetwater, but none of the in stocks quite have what I'm looking for. I don't dual pickups on my MusicMan, just a large soapbar bridge pickup I think would get me where I want to be tonally. They've got several nice sunburst finishes on there, but none have a maple neck which is what I want.

Seems like somewhere I either have to pony up for a customer order, settle on the finish or the neck or the pickup configuration. If I'm gonna drop $2500 I'm gonna be patient and wait until I get what I want. Currently rocking a Warwick Corvette so I'm no rush to add to my arsenal haha

I’ve got more than a few minor wants, but I won’t be buying any more gear for myself any time soon unless someone gives me a giftcard.

In-ears will probably be my next major purchase.

I just bought a used PRS S2 McCarty 594 single cut off reverb last week. It was an impulse buy, but I'm really impressed with it. Has a pattern vintage neck which I was worried would be too chunky for me, but it's really comfortable and I love it.

I'm sold on PRS stuff. I bought a PRS McCarty 594 singlecut about 7 months ago and it's an amazing guitar. Hands down the best neck I've ever played on a guitar.

I recently bought a Boss Katana 100 which has many effects built into it. What would be he best "universal pedal" to get myself for Xmas if I only want 1 pedal.

They are great. I almost bought an SE. I believe that’s their cheaper export line. But the Fender showed up finally in the color I wanted. It was definitely on my list. Can’t argue against them. Unless you just want to make the “not Gibson or Fender” argument.
