Didn’t want the thread turning into a Waters v Gilmour pissing match.
Neither did I - sticking strictly to the topic, no one seriously thinks that Roger Waters was a better vocalist than David Gilmour. Not David, not Roger, not their mums, wives, etc. All the rest is subjective and based on what you like, and so forth.

Yeah, I think Roger is 10 times the songwriter David is, but David is 10 times the singer. That said, The Trial is one of my favorite PF tunes.

Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, and Sammy Hagar

For me, it's Burton Cummings.

Yeah I agree, you can’t have any better voice than Paul Rogers, pretty sure I read in the Zeppelin book the Jimmy wanted him as their singer but he turned him down but I think that turned out best for everyone in that situation.

That was the original plan.
I also learned not long ago Ronnie Van Zant idiolised Paul Rodgers.

Makes sense, dude had an incredible voice.
Has not had, he can probably still get it done.

Saw Bad Company open for ZZ Top in 2019, and we were all blown away by how good Paul Rogers still sounded.
Cheap Trick was at that show and sounded pretty good too.

A couple that I haven't seen mentioned are Steve Walsh and Robby Steinhardt of Kansas.

Agree with you on this. Roger's voice is not melodic, but strange and somewhat manic. But his voice is perfect for a selection of PF songs (Not Now John, for example).

Hagar took voice lessons and his voice is as strong as it was when he was much younger.

I did not picked Paul Rogers from the outset, but yeah. He sounds great at all levels.
I still prefer Brad Delp. Wrong as I may be. If I was putting together a band that would sell tens of thousands of 8 tracks, and fill your head from the back dash, I would get Delp.

Hutchence is not usually thought of as a great lead singer like Rodgers and Plant, et al. But he had an unusual range and a good voice. What he was was a great entertainer and really everything you would want as a rock front man. He could get a crowd going and had great energy on stage.
It also helped that INXS was one of those rare bands that sounded just as good live as they did on the record. It helps when the core of the band was all brothers that were playing together all their lives.
