From 10:05 to almost noon I saw a lot of deer. Nothing I wanted to harvest but several young deer that I am really excited about. My rut is basically over
Since noon, nothing. I’m about to haul arse about 3 miles south and hunt that old bean field.
I do think for most of us for the next several days mornings will be best to catch a mature buck on his feet heading back to bed early morning. If you’re in an area where your rut is peak, doesn’t matter as long as you got the does.
Good luck. Would like to get more feedback on other folks deer movement today.
257wby, nothing? Your rut should be wrapping up right?

You’re a better man than me
Crossed my mind for sure. After it happened, I physically felt sick to my stomach so climbed down to take a dump 150 or so yards behind stand at canal and woods. My insides were all messed up.
Had I not had my youngest nephew and Brothers hunting out here, things may have been different this morning. I hope I don’t regret it. Last time I had a similar situation like this was about 6 years ago. The very next morning I shot a buck I had never seen, had no idea about and no pictures of. He was huge. I really do believe in good and bad karma as I’ve gotten older. I believe if you have integrity and do things the right way, I’m usually blessed more than I could’ve hoped. I haven’t always been like this though.

Waterproof
Cold, 22, no wind
Elevated box Hunting an L. Directly in front 350 yard lane x 40’ wide. To my west lane a little longer and same width.
7mmRem Mag, Browning X-Bolt
Had a huge, huge 9 we’ve been seeing on camera all season, mainly at night. This dude comes out 11 minutes before shooting time 170 yards away to feed at a patch of peas. Could see him all through Binos and scope. Gun up on rail and ready, just waiting for legal light. Thought it was at legal light. Looked at phone and still 4 more minutes. That joker walked back into woods 2 minutes until shooting light. I thought for sure it was time. Very disappointed. That’s the way it goes sometimes. Maybe a bigger 170” deer we have walking around shows up once frost melts. I’ve been sitting in my stand stewing over that other deer all morning sine it happened. About to turn phone off, pay attention and sit still all day if I can

Certainly not impossible but certainly not easy. I decided to do this in my late 30s about 5 months before Covid hit. For 4 years I fought like hell to keep my people with families employed, all bills paid on time to any vendor and hustled my arse off to get us certain projects.
This shite is not for the meek. It helps that you have some Capital going into something like this but a lot can go wrong if you’re not thorough. Other than a strong work ethic, I sincerely believe you need to be a person with integrity. Sure, we all know some of these sleeze balls that have none and it seems they’re are getting by without repercussions but it will ALWAYS come back to bite them.
We’ve been incredibly blessed after struggling close to 4 years but we have been rolling the last 17 months. Have been blessed more than I could’ve hoped for (knock on wood).
There’s a lot of liability and responsibility you’re accountable for. That weight can feel pretty heavy sometimes. I’m not trying to scare you but there are a shite load of things you need review and pray about before just jumping in. I’m not saying don’t not do it because of fear of failure. If you’re scared of the horses arse you’ll never see his face. Just make sure you’ve done your due diligence.
ETA: And sometimes I do want to go back to consulting for big firms like I did in the past. When you own your own though, my downtime/ off time has been almost zero the past nearly 6 years. Some of that has to do with me though.

Same. I don’t post often but it blew my mind how our fans thumbed their noses at Kiffin over the years. I’ve always said, he was a younger guy, probably had too much responsibility given to him at such a young age and made some mistakes.
I’ve always said when he got around the 50 year old age mark he was going to put something special together somewhere and have a pretty dominant decade run. I’m not worried about him leaving for another CFB program anytime soon. I think the NFL will come calling in 5-6 years. That may not interest him though. Could we really have pulled off the best hire for both sides at the right time? I believe so. Time will tell.

Our fall back is probably O Not bad tbh
It’s not. Like, at all. When O burned bridges here with the board and the biggest boosters, he burnt them completely down. Kiffin knows this. As good as a relationship they have with each other, Kiffin wouldn’t bring him on staff. Not even as an analysts.
He can’t be trusted and would be a distraction. Miles was done and should’ve been canned sooner. O sewed a lot of discord in that ops building and locker room. It was some very grease ball type shite. Not saying Les was already on his way out, but O did some pretty diabolical shite before becoming interim.
He’s an excellent recruiter and solid DL coach but if it’s not Robinson, it’ll be someone that Lane and Baker both want. I really don’t get the obsession of fans wanting him on staff. He really did leave the program in shambles.
Ol boy who posted a few weeks ago that O had called his trainer/ meessage therapist and informed him to be ready was literally a plant. It was O trying to drub up some smoke and gain some goodwill back with fans when he went on that 1 week media tour
Thanks for the greatest CFB season ever and the memories but no thanks.

Several BIG MONEY LSU donors refused to give more money, WITHOUT Coach O. Many wanted LSU to re-hire O. Never forget, Ed Orgeron put together and coached possibly (likely) the GREATEST COLLEGE TEAM of ALLTIME! Hating O won't ever change what he accomplished
Can tell you that this is incorrect. Not a fact. No one and I mean no big donors wanted him rehired.
The sentiment is actually the opposite. Most don’t even want O on LKs staff. If it was going to be a deal breaker, then they’d concede that to Lane if he really wants.
All of you wanting him on this staff will be disappointed. I know there was a story someone put out there about O calling his BR trainer/ therapist which likely did happen but that’s O putting the cart before the horse. Yes, he and LK are close but he hasn’t reached out to him about a position on the staff. This was O trying to get a couple stories out there to spin up some goodwill and pressure on the board if LK did want him.
And to be completely objective, I love O as a recruiting coordinator and DL coach but he burned LSU bad. Yes, greatest season ever but when he got more control, everything crumbled. He always wanted an “attacking 4-3 defense” and got it when DA left. DAs stint at Baylor has been pretty bad but Aranda kept that coaching staff motivated. He was a great example of a hardworking coach. Ensminger and Brady worked their asses off too. O deserves a ton of credit for letting those guys do their thing.
The sour taste from how he left the team still lingers. Those relationships have not mended yet.

Downvote if you must, but the LSU fans thumbing their noses at Kiffin blows my mind. Yes, he’s had a rollercoaster career, seems immature at times. The dude wants to win. He is a brilliant offensive mind.
Also keep in mind, Lane is 50 now. I think he’s at that age where if he lands at a LSU or Florida, he will have a 10-12 year magical run. Florida is still a good job despite what this board thinks. I know he and the family love Oxford but he’ll likely never reach the top of the mountain there.
Would hate to see him end at Florida.

The board trust Woodward suddenly. Pathetic
This is what blows my mind the most. He deserves all the credit for the Jay Johnson hire and Kim but for the bread winner, which is football, all he has ever done was over pay for coaches. That’s his model, be the highest bidder. Made a good hire at Washington. Outside of that, it’s been shitty football contracts.
Before anyone says “akchually” it was the new A&M ad that signed Jimbo extension.” Well, the only reason that happened is because guess who was interested in Jimbo coming to LSU after Eaux melted? If you guessed Woodward, you’d be correct.
His model for hiring a football coach isn’t viable anymore. If you’re going to sign and pay a new HC to a ridiculously high number, the coaches name should be Saban or Smart. Sark and Day a level down. Smarts would never leave UGA to come to BR. Saban, if he even wanted to can probably coach another 3-4 years at high level. Texas will not only match any offer Sark would get, but tack about $3MM above the match.
Lanning not leaving Eugene as long an Uncle Phil is still around. Sumrall ain’t it. I just don’t know. I do know Woodward shouldn’t lead the search nor the governor. This hire should be one of the most vetted in CFB history.
Who else y’all thinking?Campbell, Brohm, Drinkwitz or Rhule? I know most think Rhule was a flask in the pan but I really believe he could come to LSU and probably do something special. Especially recruiting Louisiana, where Nebraska isn’t known for their local talent. All these guys are impressive to me and would be the first names I vet after that upper echelon of coaches tell you no, which they will.
Lastly, I didn’t list Brady because he’s waiting on an NFL head coaching gig, which he’ll get in the next year or 2. He does not like to recruit. He’s loves coaching in the NFL

I still kind of want Chris Petersen. Two weeks ago I would have been fine with Baker as HC but how many times can you get beat by a running QB and learn nothing from it?
Don’t want Baker as HC nor Petersen.
I think we need to start looking at this differently. I think what A&M did with Elko would be something LSU needs to do. Elko looks much older than he actually is but he’s only 48. Need to find a guy who is somewhat younger and hungry. The landscape of CFB has changed so much with NIL.
Kiffin is probably the only established coach off the top of my head we’d have a good shot at but I think if offered he’s going to take the Florida job. I know a lot of you on this board hate Kiffin but he has overachieved at Ole Mrs and there’s just almost no way to have any kind of sustainable success there. He just turned 50, not a young buck anymore but still definitely has every bit of 8-12 years of coaching in him.
Unfortunately, the timing won’t line up. He’ll take the Florida job and we’ll be sitting with our thumbs in our arse the next two years unless BK decides to just retire. Y’all can thumb your noses at A&M but I think they made a great hire. There are and will be younger guys to make a run at.

It pisses me off to no end they didn’t immediately after the Clemson game shut Nuss down until the Florida game. There’s also no reason he should’ve been out there taking snaps against SELU. If this was managed correctly, good chance you come out of Oxford with a W. Then another whole week of Nuss resting and not throwing before USCe week.
MVB would’ve be capable of getting a W vs Tech and SELU.

Anyone who has watched him play last year could see there was something wrong with him especially in the Tech game. And yes there are "horseshite" posters on here like the ones that said Kelly was lying about the injury to cover for the poor offensive performances. An incredibly stupid take. He was able to make all of the throws last night including the deep ones and was way more accurate with his throws regardless of who they were playing.
I agree. The fricking dude didn’t forget how to sling a football in less than a year. He’s obviously injured to start the season.
I still believe the ACL scare at the end of fall camp was much worse than what was reported. Obviously it’s not completely torn but don’t be shocked that as soon as the season is over, they go in and clean that ACL up.
