Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire has kicked off with viewing numbers that suggest a solid start to an original franchise.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the science fiction fantasy was the most viewed title on the streaming giant following its debut the night of Dec. 21, generating 23.9 million views in three (plus a few hours) days.

The numbers are a solid kickoff for the movie, which doesn’t have big A-listers and is flying on the strength of the filmmaking brand of Snyder, who is best known for directing DC superhero movies such as Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and his Justice League film

Jax Teller with a grill as a turncoat? What's not to love. Like others have said, tired of the skinny female smashing big muscle bound "trained' killers.

Battle Beyond the Stars and Krull both did it better. This movie sucked.

One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. My goodness that was bad.

It reminds me of a bad adaptation of a really good book.

Basically it’s like they tried to hit all of the high points of a novel, but ended up leaving out everything that made the book good.

Except that there is no book…

I’ve said in this thread that it seemed like a book adaptation where they didn’t have time to flesh out the background of these things and if we had read the book it would have been fine.

Good Lord. I don’t care if you liked it but any GotG is a million times better as a movie.

They have an actual plot, characters have depth and purpose, etc. I mean it’s not even comparable from strictly a movie making perspective.

When a film critic (I use the term lightly since there was no link so I don't know who they are) says this is the worst movie they have ever seen they lose all credibility with me. It definitely isn't a great movie or even a good movie but if a critic hasn't seen a worse movie they haven't seen enough movies to be taken seriously.

Watchmen

overall a pretty faithful adaption.

He missed the entire point of the book and his obsession w/making everything look "cool" robbed it of the source materials soul.

I did not hate this

But it’s two movies in one. The hero’s back story is a movie by itself. That hurt it imo. But what else can we expect from the master storytelling style of Zack Snyder?

It’s an above average fun time with (imo) incredible visuals. The villain was great imo. Questionable storytelling obviously but I was so stoned I didn’t care.

Oh wow lol. I’m surprised.

Honestly, for regular Netflix viewers, this is probably very above average for the content they’re used to lol.

FIFY

This is all a build up to a sequel that can very well be worse.

Right. I’m saying this movie itself had too much stuff for 2 hours. The origin story is enough content for a full movie.

So maybe this is a trilogy of content stuffed into two movies.

Regardless, the narrative is pretty terrible I completely agree.

Honestly I did not hate the characters. Some good individual pieces. It feels like a graphic novel with cool visuals and bad storytelling. Snyder is the Todd McFarland of movies.

There's a Directors cut that's 4 hours long and rated R coming up. They should've just released that instead of this chopped up version. Netflix is just being greedy.

I completely disagree, and the Watcmen is one of my favorite novels of all time. I used to read it every year. So I hold the source material in high regard. For the most part, he nailed every character. I don't think you could have possibly done Rorsach any better, he was perfect. Even Dr. Manhattan was great. Many of the iconic scenes were almost shot for shot/word for word as they were in the novel. The sould of it was still there for me, it just didn't have the same shock value ending.

if you think this turd pie is comparable to Guardians, then my friend there is no way you watched the movie - cause Ray Charles can see better than you.
