Zack Snyder’s wannabe franchise starter, REBEL MOON PART ONE: A CHILD OF FIRE, feels like what you might get by feeding STAR WARS & SEVEN SAMURAI into an AI screenwriting program. My @THR review of the turgid Netflix space saga

Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire' Review: Zack Snyder's Sci-Fi Epic Knocks Off 'Star Wars' and a Dozen Other Sources

@IGN

Zack Snyder's space opera Rebel Moon is let down by a derivative patchwork script, mediocre action sequences and a superficial story.

You're better off waiting for the Snyder Cut of REBEL MOON. You can tell where scenes are missing in this version and it leaves tons of characters undercooked. Still, there are some things I really enjoyed and Sofia Boutella is a star.

Rebel Moon Part One review: Zack Snyder’s Netflix epic is a borderline incoherent shambles

The only good news is that they only spent around 100M. Star Wars became highly disliked and really bad at the end....hey, let's copy that and expect different results. I feel like the studios bribery campaign of critics has run out of money. More and more crap is being called crap unlike Disney's critic's darling period. Crap movie with streaming release a week later = box office poison.

We're at the point in modern society where a negative RT score is a legitimate endorsement

Well, wasn’t it originally pitched to Disney as a Star Wars movie?

Visually Stunning

Entertaining

Retarded

That looks like AI generated a plot full of clichés and sci-fi tropes.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this at all. If nothing else, Zack Snyder's film have been very consistent in this regard.

+1 you know what you're getting with Snyder films. It's enjoyable schlock, IMO.

critics always pan his movies....seems to be some sort of vendetta against him to be honest.

not that he's perfect, but if there's a dude who makes movies for fans, not the critics, it's Snyder.

Do they? Critics hated his Superman trilogy (but ZS Justice League has a Fresh rating), Sucker Punch, and that animated owl movie, but are we saying that’s undeserved? Army of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen all have Fresh ratings.
