Until the ring was destroyed, the Eagles would have been f$&ked up by the Nazgul.

I like how everyone gives Elrond a pass when he could have stopped this shite in the beginning by taking it from the King's son (forgot his name) in the mountain. Instead he let him walk past.

The plot of the movie is that Jones is trying to keep the ark out of the hands of the Nazis, not that Jones is trying to defeat the Nazis by melting their faces off.

I can overlook it because it's such an iconic movie, but I wish Doc spent just a few seconds explaining to Marty how he knew the lightning would strike "precisely" at 10:04, because otherwise he had a 1 in 60 chance of timing it correctly...

More of a plot clarity issue than DEM.

But I thought the lighting strike 'froze' the clock at 10:04. The heat disabled the clock when it struck at 'precisely 10:04.'

I watched the film again maybe 5 years ago and it holds up well.

I guess you're right about it being a plot clarity issue, but at the same time I feel like it was a big enough deal to give some extra clarification, as opposed to hoping the audience simply buys into it (which I did, in spite of my post suggesting otherwise, lol)

Wasn't there a photo of the lightning strike that showed the time in the newspaper?

Odds of someone taking that photo 1 in 1000 but..

Again, I haven't seen the film in 5 years and before that may have been in the theater. !

First, the Eye of Sauron would have spotted them from miles away and attacked them.

Second, the eagles didn't normally let people ride them.

Third, once Sauron figured out the plan to bring the ring into Mordor it would have been impossible to try again. He would have set a permanent guard at the gates of the volcano.
Are you two talking about the same thing? To fit this thread, it has to be when they saved Frodo and Sam, not the hypo that they could have just carried the rings.

My wife saw Avengers with me and pointed-out that...

Black Widow was Russian, until she wasn't.

The Hulk couldn't control his anger, until he could.

They covered this in the first episode of Rings of Power.

I disagree. Superman stops after traveling backwards, and has to fly in the opposite direction to get the earth moving correctly again. I think he was meant to be shown as affecting the earth's spin and time as a result of that.

I am confused by this. In what I saw, which was before the ring was destroyed, the eagles ripped them new assholes.

Eagles got one once in an ambush. Flying into Mordor would have been a whole different ballgame where the Eagles likely get their shitte pushed in

But it wasn't over. Indy knew not to look when they opened the ark and, although the Nazis had the upper hand at that point by having the heroes captured and tied up, the Nazis' continued arrogant behavior is what did them in. Indy recognized what was happening and used it to his advantage.

Yes, it was literally an act of God, but not one that appeared out of nowhere and arbitrarily acted upon the bad guys to the benefit of protagonist with no explanation or linkage to what happened previously in the movie.
