To be fair unless you're a legacy superhero like Spidey or Bats seems like everyone else is barley breaking even. Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four wer solid movies

How is this even possible? I get that Spidey is the #1 international supe but this is absurd

Spider-Man was my first comic book hero and I still have a box of 80’s comics in my closet.
My best explanation as to the popularity:
Holland is a great spider man
No Way Home was a great movie and really brought the nostalgia home for a lot of us.
But I think more importantly it appears that due to his new anonymity this offers to reset him into a more typical Spider Man role AND level up into the formidable hero he was always meant to be.
My biggest grip on MCU Spider-Man was him portrayed as a screw-up, sidekick to the “real” heroes. This looks like it will get him back to the OG Spider Man that was pretty damn capable by himself.
Have tix for the 4:30 today.

I got way burned out on comic book movies and in particular the third iteration of spider man so I haven’t seen any of these.
I do like tom holland.
Are they really THAT good to have this level of anticipation?
I've been burned out on them for a while too. Even before Endgame.
But I have seen these and they are good, but no, they are not THAT good. But I think Spider-Man is a it overrated in general though.
I personally thought Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse were better.

This movie is going to crush it at the box office. At my local theater all the shows are sold out tonight until 10.

It’s funny because the narrative has been that people are sick of them, but maybe people were just holding out for one that was actually good

I expect that narrative remains correct, but that Spider-Man and Batman are immune.

But will it be Ultron bank or Infinite War bank?

I'm betting it beats Spider Man.

Exactly.
No Way Home got around $2B total in the midst of the other MCU shite because it was really good and did an excellent job of delivering fan service for the previous versions of Spider Man and villains. Plus the actors nailed it across the board.
It’s not the genre, it’s the quality of the product.

That's crazy. So it beat Supergirl in a day?
Supergirl seemed to have much more marketing but it was bad so no word of mouth at all.
I knew spider man would do well as NWH was huge when people were barely going to movies.
But some are projecting over $1B before next weekend starts.

$105M OS FRI for #SpiderManBrandNewDay . $304M cume.
Swinging to amazing nos. across the globe. Europe BO is HOT despite facing hot weather. Asia-Pacific & LATAM are firing on all cylinders.
China is a bit of a downer, which has killed a potentially $600M+ OS weekend, now headed for $560-575M. Worldwide to be around $925M.

Huge weekend no doubt, but most comic book movies these days are massively front loaded. Dont see this legging out to beat TFA in domestic.
However going to be a massive opening weekend for sure.
Opening day will pass Endgame to take the crown

Looks like $99M SAT for #SpiderManBrandNewDay. $267M+ cume. Weekend projected to be over $350M.
The weekend record is going to be a close call, a lot depending on actuals reported by Sony.

Didn’t Endgame make like $1.2billion worldwide its first weekend?
