Tales of watching with the wife:

The hag is doing the Ring style crawl across the floor and I’m gasping and cringing. My wife looks up from her phone AFTER the scene and is like “I don’t know, I have a hard time getting scared because it’s also funny.” I’m like “You aren’t ficking watching it and are missing the scary parts.”

Show is really, really good.

Love the mix of creepy and humor.

The island already has a perimeter. It’s called the ocean

Surprised at how actually funny this show is. The dichotomy between that and the creepiness is amazing..

I've really enjoyed the first 3 episodes. Matthew Rhys and Stephen Root are great casting.

Show has been really good. A nice surprise. Didn’t know anything going in and thought it said drama/thriller. No, this is straight up creepy and fun is what it is.

Does everyone's wife do this? Why can't they just put the damn phone down for 30 minutes to an hour? Why is it so hard for them to disconnect?

Even worse is the delay between me telling her to watch or look at something and when she actually looks up. Also a major issue in the car when we’ve inevitably passed whatever I was pointing out by the time she actually looks up.

Also, not sure if you're familiar with Hiro Murai as a director/producer, but he's done some of the best episodes of Atlanta and Barry (which also co-starred a psychologically-deteriorating Stephen Root).

Idk why I thought it was so funny but I was dying when they were at the beach and told the mayor “we can’t get electricity to the beach he’s going to have to run and extension from the lighthouse” and he replies “well how fricking long is that gonna take?!”

My favorite part of the recent episode was his exchange with the sheriff about the hag. The part about the perimeter was great, but the sheriffs notes got me too.

-Old Woman
-Possibly Damp
-Faster than old woman should be!

When Root is telling him about the Sea Hag I was dying.

"How does she kill you?

She climbs into your bed and sits on your face."

I love it- as stated by many, the balance between creepy and hilarious is fantastic. Wife isn't a fan, but I'm hooked.

The clown in Ep. 2 was super creepy.

When the hag climbed into the chair and sat on his face, I almost fell out of the chair laughing so hard.

This show is so much better being on Apple than if it were on Netflix.

It's good to stew on each episode for a week.

Netflix’s algorithm would have canceled it already after the first episode didn’t receive 2 billion hours watched within the first 30 minutes.

New episode tonight at 8pm.

What years is it set in? Wife and I thought mid-90’s but then he talked about WiFi. Is it just an outdated old island town set in today?

Yeah, I kind of like that about it. Just by what people are wearing you can't tell what decade it is. Could be 70s-2000s.

It's almost like it's apart from time.

New episode dropped.

That was...something.

Felt like a Twilight Zone episode

Lady that was hot for the mayor was trying to get GPS directions on her cell phone.

The island is very much anachronistic, but the timeline is pretty modern as far as I can tell.
