He kicked Wyck outta the boat because he believed Wyck couldn’t go past the buoy. He went out further, did what he had to do, and then when he got back inside the buoys perimeter he picked Wyck up.

All the little noises and grunts Patricia made while running around the island cracked me up.

Only things that bothered me was how quick they burned the body and that nobody took its mask off.

Ahh, duh.

That's another thing that makes me think the entity/island fricks with time. When they opened the room he had clearly been in there much longer than the 10 seconds outside of the door where Tom and Wyck were.

O for sure. That's why I cracked up with him asking for something to eat because he clearly felt like he had been there for quite some time and 30 seconds was going to be brutal.

Creepiest part so far was when Tom was staying at the hotel and he was in the crawl space and William walks up to the entrance and creeps down and crawls in. I was in my head thinking you see this is why I don't watch scary movies.

I guess my main criticism of this episode is that it felt like way more of simply an homage to Halloween than an actual good episode that fits within the narrative of the show.

I appreciated it, but it just wasn't near as good as previous ones I guess.

I 100% agree with you

I thought it was by far the weakest episode

Patricia is hilarious. This show has some great characters. I love the Sheriff. He makes me LOL every time he is on screen. He has had most of the best lines this season. I almost don't want there to be concrete closure at the end because I want more seasons.

I guess I’m the only one pissed or don’t understand how you could have a boogie man that just killed two people laying dead and nobody wants to see who it is or take DNA?

You aren’t alone. That was the only part I didn’t like. It’s not like if this was Michael Myers and you know who it is so the unmasking really doesn’t matter. They have zero clue who this is. The only way I can reconcile it is they believe it to be a creation of the island/curse and know it’s not a real person from the island.

With him having all the sea shells in him, i'm almost certain that he was Gerrie's brother.

No I think most people shook their head at that.

Obviously it's been comical throughout but this last episode had quite a bit more suspension of belief required and roll your eyes comic moments with both story lines.

Disappointed to find out it's a mini series and not a series but also I thoroughly enjoy a good one season show. Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple is a good example of needing to let a good thing lie. Was designed to be a mini series but because of popularity they made a second season and it's really suffered. If this was mean to be a one season show, I hope they don't stretch it out more simply because of popularity.

I’m pretty confident it will get more seasons. Apple is submitting the show under Comedy instead of Limited Series for the next Emmy awards. The creator also said in an interview that she has ideas for season 2.

Side note, I need Patricia's slipper socks. Thought they might be Muk Luks but I don't see them on the website.

I’m sorry, but your information is just incorrect

Your friends and neighbors was actually renewed for a second season before season 1 even aired

They have not said Widows Bay is a limited series

I don't think it is. With the initial press release, AppleTV called it a series and not a mini-series. As Esquire pointed out, they also have submitted it as a series (Comedy) and not a limited series.

quote:

On Wednesday, April 22, Apple TV celebrated its highly anticipated series “Widow’s Bay” with a red carpet premiere event at the Regal Union Square in New York. “Widow’s Bay” is a new series that blends genuine horror with character-driven comedy from creator and executive producer Katie Dippold and director and executive producer Hiro Murai. Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys stars and also serves as executive producer. The new 10-episode series will make its global debut on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through June 17, 2026 on Apple TV, with a special two-episode release on Wednesday, May 27.

AppleTV Series Press Release for Widows Bay from April

That said, I think they have to be VERY careful about how they approach it and how this season goes. They could lose a lot of the magic of the show by dragging it out too long.

I could see it going for two easily. I think the end of this season will be the reveal of Tom’s son as the last descendant of Richard Warren. Tom will spend the next season trying to break the curse without the death of his son.

If it were Wyck as the descendant, I don’t see him having any qualms about sacrificing himself to end the curse. Would be the easier choice if this were a one-season show.

Was reading this Elle interview with O'Flynn (Patricia) and she dropped this little tidbit about the last two episodes and a potential Season 2 (it hasn't been officially renewed for Season 2 yet):

quote:

But the nightmare is far from over as a huge storm is about to hit Widow’s Bay. What can O’Flynn tease for the last two episodes? She mentions one particular scene involving a painting where Rhys’s physical comedy is “next level.” But in true Widow’s Bay tradition, the story covers a spectrum of moods as the finale is “weirdly moving, really profound.” Even O’Flynn was taken by surprise at the way it unfolds and thinks viewers will be similarly shocked by the concluding episodes. “They won't be disappointed,” she says. “I think it sticks the landing. They won’t know where it is going, but it’s really good.” At the time of writing, Widow’s Bay hasn’t been renewed yet, but she hopes to return to New England for round two. “It was a dream,” O’Flynn says. “When I think back, I go, ‘Wow, those things don't come along [often] that sort of alchemy was really special.” Not everything about this island is cursed after all.

What do you mean there's more surprises!??!?!

Great commentary all the way around, one scene I don't think came up was her looking at the cracked door in the upstaris hallway and walking right up to it. Good lord, i was physically uncomfortable. Great work to let that breathe and not go with the jump scare there.

I get coco's complaint, but to me thats every horror genre ever.

Maybe it is just the cool font they use? Who knows?

I think I do remember noticing that about the statue.
I just read that there is a statue head of the first mayor in another part of town. I don't remember seeing that. Wonder how they got separated if the head was from that statue?

Or maybe there is not dot on the I like there is no head on the statue.

Patricia was missing the “i” in “little” on her bookmobile sign

Correction: it’s the second “l” that’s missing

Agreed. I really liked what they did with that as it's contrary to the norm of having the intended victim going into the room even though they know something is in there. The breathing wasn't heavy either, being just barely audible really fed into that spooky/creepy anticipation.

For the rest of it though, I thought they played the genre parody a bit too much. Having her running and screaming, pounding on doors and no one responding while the calmly walking killer is magically somehow to keep ground with her, even the sheriff doing a moronically stupid thing like letting a guy with a butcher knife come at you and TAKE AWAY THE frickING SHOTGUN... that was all a bit too much and took me out of the scene.

Patricia's holding the gun on the body in all the following clips though, that was hilarious! Their movement through incinerating the body without even looking below the mask was too fast and also took me out of the scene, but her with that shotgun at every step of the way made up for it in a weird way.

The conversation between the mayor and his son over his mother's death was well done. I was expecting the stupid trope of the kid getting pissed then storming out to create some weak-assed friction, but they didn't go down that route. The route they took was a little different (his being bitter towards his mother due to the bizarre letters) but it ended up turning out really well. At least until Wyck showed up.

fricking Wyck.

Evan (the mayor's son) being the real last blood tie to the curse is pretty much a lock at this point. The island was settled in 1681, the flashback episode ("Our History") took place 20 years later, so ~1701. Going off the average generation being 20 years, the surviving daughter would have been Evan's ~14x-great grandmother.
