Agreed. I really liked what they did with that as it's contrary to the norm of having the intended victim going into the room even though they know something is in there. The breathing wasn't heavy either, being just barely audible really fed into that spooky/creepy anticipation.
Yea, it was really cool seeing them do all the 70/80's slasher tropes as far as what the killer did, but have the victim be someone that has actually seen a horror movie before

I did a rewatch of the latest episode with some friends last night. The same tourist that walks into the restaurant with her kids at the start of the episode is also in the hospital waiting room at the end with a neck brace. Looks like the supernatural events are more widespread than just the Boogeyman that night so that may explain why nobody was home. I think they just did it for humor though.
Based on the episode picture, it looks like next episode about the storm shelter will feature the unique-looking fellow that works in the office and DJ’d Patricia’s party. His small parts so far have been great. I liked the scene with Tom on shrooms in his office and they both scream when Patricia talks on the phone. I’ve never seen any of his previous work. I just remember I was bummed when he won the Supporting Actor Emmy over Harrison Ford for Shrinking.

Last episode was obviously a spoof of the Halloween movies and movies like it, most complaints about what Patricia did or didn't do are some of the same complaints from the movies. I think we're digging a bit too deep in criticism when that's what was intended by the show creator.

Here is a good interview while we wait for the episode to drop.

Loved the 23andRosemary genealogy lesson.
Also, the drug dealer calling Tom, Wyck, right up until the end was a nice detail.
Did not expect them to name that character as the descendant.

Yeah, that was out of left field. At this point, just wait her out. She can’t have too many years left.
Short episode tonight but next week’s finale is the longest of the season at 48 minutes. Let’s hope we get that renewal announcement soon because I need more of this show.

Thought it was really slow the first half, but the final 15 minutes were
couldn’t stop laughing at the genealogy chart/explanations from the Waffle House waitress.
“Dead baby! Dead baby! LESbiann”
Seemed like they were giving themselves some murder mysteries/flashback excuses to touch on in future seasons if they wanted to.

Probably the loudest I’ve laughed during the entire series.

So that old lady had a kid when she was young and put it up for adoption right? The reason she helps out with Tom’s son is because she knows he is her grandson? I expect them to figure this out right after they resolve to kill her off.

That makes sense. I kept expecting them to say Tom's son was the last living relative. Maybe he is.

So you are thinking that Tom's wife was Ruth's child?
Posted on 6/10/26 at 10:26 am to arktiger28
Yes that’s what I’m thinking. Would be too easy for the whole problem to be fixed by killing off an old maid. Not much has been said about Toms wife’s background. We know she was born on the island because she couldn’t leave it, but we haven’t heard anything about her parents.

That is a solid take. That is where I thought they were going, so I was caught off guard that it was Ruth. But I didn't think about it still going that direction in a more roundabout way. Your theory makes a lot of sense.

I like that theory. And what if the boogeyman was trying to kill off the descendants of Richard Warren? Maybe he was one of the son’s that fell off the boat?

Great episode. The lighthouse when he gets to the top and reads then note, then sees the guy back at the office

I like that theory. The “bad guy” was actually trying to help. Could be a solid twist. Not sure if he actually tried to kill Patricia back in the day but he definitely tried to kill her recently, maybe she is a part of it also.

That's my thought as well. But it almost feels a little too red herring for the show. They've been pretty good about having some atypical stuff when it comes to plot twists.
