re: Who will finally sit on the throne by the end?

It will end with Robin Arryn on the throne and the camera will pan out to show King’s Landing and the Red Keep as the snow is falling. Then it will pan out further and we see Robin on the floor playing with a snow globe in a modest, blue-collar home in the current year.
His father, who appears to be Littlefinger, will gently tell him, “be careful with that son. Remember I told you that,” as he kneels down on the floor next to him. Robin is unresponsive and continues to stare into the snow globe.
In the background is Robin’s grandfather, who appears to be Tywin Lannister. Robin’s father says to him, “I don’t understand this autism thing, Pop. Here’s my son, I talk to him, I don’t even know if he can hear me. He sits there all day long in his own world staring at that toy. What’s he thinking about?”
Robin continues shaking and staring at the globe. Finally, his father reaches out and takes it from him saying, “Alright come on, Son. Let’s go wash our hands.” Robin stands as the three of them make their way to the kitchen. Robin’s father places the globe on a shelf and we zoom into it and see that it is the Red Keep.
Cut to black.

Bran is the betting favorite at the moment.

Martin said it would be a bitter sweet ending

I think Jon definitely dies.
He's already come back from the dead and had too many clothes calls since then. He probably dies saving someone/being the hero, but sadly, I dont think theres a happy ending with Jon.

Yeah I think Bran fits that to some degree - he's by no means a fan favorite, but he's obviously not a villain. Plus him taking the Throne likely means Dany and Jon didn't survive.

The only two people I feel 100% certain will survive are Jon and Sam. The whole series is about Jon (Song of Ice and Fire). The promo video of the crypts at Winterfell shows Jon's statue as an old man. He will live. He will "win."
I think the bittersweet part is that Dany will die sacrificing herself and that the Iron Throne won't mean much anymore....if it exists at all at the end.

I think an interesting book idea is Brienne
Show is obvs Jon or his child

I have a theory that Cersei marries the Night King and the two of them rule the dead.

If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Sam sure. But being %100 about Jon goes against everything the entire series has already shown, that nobody is safe. Yea Jon has a lot to do with the title of the series but that really doesnt mean much when it comes to a conclusion. Game of Thrones were exact words spoken to Ned in season/book one, and not long after that he was getting his head chopped off. Thats being pretty naive if you're %100 sure he will live to be an old man.
The promo means absolutely nothing. Two years ago the promo had Tyrions face hanging on a wall in the house of black and white.

Tyrion
He has always achieved when given the opportunity. No matter how shitty the opportunity was (pun intended).

The 3-eyed king.....product of incest

No one. Throne and Kings Landing is destroyed. Dany dies and Jon goes back to rule Dragonstone while Sansa rules Winterfell and they decide that the lords of the 7 kingdoms should rule Westeros together

List of The Characters Who Survived in Martin's Original Outline
Posted on 4/12/19 at 11:57 am to iwyLSUiwy
It’s weird that you think that because I think the opposite is true. Most often the characters who have the most run in with death and have the most close calls are the ones that survive. I have no doubt Jon will survive.
Dany, meanwhile, has never really had any close calls. I think she dies giving birth to her child and never rules Westeros. What other bitter sweet ending can there be? The character we’ve been following since episode 1 is ultimately denied the thing she wants most while the character who probably least wants the Throne (Jon) will sit on it or at least have to rule somewhat

I think that’s who the night king ultimately wants to kill is their child. This child will be a combination of fire and ice.

The list Martin had, as I read it, just referred to the characters that would be the main POV up through the last book, not that they would necessarily survive to the plot's ultimate conclusion.
