I've said for years I think The Knight King is going to win in the end. I think that matches up with Martin's personality. He doesn't seem to enjoy happy endings.

Our Lord and Savior Sam Tarley will be on the Iron Throne.
He isnt a warrior. So he wont be out in the muck like everyone else.
He isnt a leader. So his head wont be a priority to any of the sides in the war.
He has a royal name. His father and brother are both dead, and the series showing them die brutally wasnt for nothing.
Sam...or should we say GRRM, will be the final winner of the Game of Thrones.

We know the ending of the books, as GRRM when trying to get the first book of the series published wrote a note that gave the list of who lives in the end of the series.
That list can be found on line if you do a little research, it is easy to find.
Now the show will very likely change the ending, just as they combined many characters into one, like Arya. Killed off many still alive in the books, made some a much larger character than in the books, etc.

Westeros will be ravaged. King’s Landing and the Iron Throne destroyed. Sansa will remain in Winterfell during it’s reconstruction. Dany and Jon will reign over Westeros and Essos from Dragonstone.
