Horror: American Werewolf in London but i was 13
Sci-Fi: Star Wars
Fantasy: Time Bandits or Dragonslayer but i was 13

Damn. 1981 was a big year in movies for me. Excalibur, Road Warrior and Raiders of the Lost Ark came out that year too and all could be on this list. I remember seeing Nighthawks (our teacher took us) and Fort Apache the Bronx (snuck in after my movie ended) in the theater that year too.

Predator and T2 were kind of neck and neck.

Forbidden Planet is a classic. It fascinated me when I was a kid.
The production design on the big screen
was amazing. Looking back, it’s kind of funny to see Leslie Neilsen as the commander…

One of these:

The Blood of Fu Manchu (1968) trailer on YouTube

DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE (1968) trailer on YouTube

So many hot chicks in the Hammer horror movies.

Fantasy:

The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
The Thief of Bagdad (1940)
Godzilla (1954)

Probably Star Wars and Poltergeist for me. I remember at about 12-13 years old, there were a lot of great cheesy 80's horror movies.

Friday 13th
Nightmare on Elm St
April Fools Day
Funhouse
Motel Hell
My Bloody Valentine

just to name some of them. I wasn't as into Sci Fi as a kid as I am now. It was pretty much Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Buck Rogers for me as a younger kid.

I grew up on 80s sci fi and fantasy. A lot of favorites there. The easy answer would be Empire Strikes Back or Wrath of Khan.

But after those two, my favorite would have to be Krull.

Sorry but that movie choice is disqualified because you were 13. Please post a movie that you saw when you were under 12.

I remember when the 1976 "King Kong" remake came out. I was excited to see it. I even remember the 7-11 had 'King Kong' Icee cups, promoting it. But when I went to see it, it was like a dull, uninvolving thud. Didn't grab me in the least. In fact, I haven't even bothered to watch it since that one encounter.

Four things about the remake are indisputably awesome.

1) ‘70s Jessica Lange.

2) John Barry’s score.

3) Honopu Beach, Kauai

4) Twin Towers at night.
