The first Sci Fi movie that scared the bejebbies out of me was "Invaders From Mars".

The first horror movie that scared me was the original "Frankenstein" closely followed by the original "Dracula" then the original "The Mummy". The fact they were all in black and white made them more scary.

12. I will have to think hard on that. I think 12 was pre-cable tv for me so It would have to be a movie or something I watched on the 5 tv channels.

King Kong is definitely a good choice for earlier years. Star Wars blew my mind and I had a 60 minutes cassette that was an abridged version of the movie. Listened to that pretty much every night. Star Wars was leaps and bounds better than any sci-fi at the time. It wins for my top pick. Empire is a better movie but the effect Star Wars had on a young me was much stronger.
