Knocked Up. The most entertaining part of that movie was Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann's dysfunctional relationship. Stars Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl can only take a movie so far.

This was further proven when Apatow made "This is 40", featuring Rudd and Mann, which is hilarious.

Christian Bale in "The Fighter" felt like he carried that movie to me.

Original Star Wars trilogy has at least 2 in Harrison Ford and James Earl Jones/David Prose.

Lord of the Rings trilogy Sean Astin and Viggio Mortensen.

Hell, you could probably find a dozen films in his career that could fit this thread.

(quote sam jackson in Pulp Fiction image)

Sam was great in it. Heard Tarantino say he wanted Fishburne in that role but he had a conflict.

That really got me thinking. Would he have been better? I think he might have been. I love this movie, and I love Sam Jackson in it and in most roles.

But as I go down the list of Sam Jackson roles...is there one that Fishburne wouldn't have been better in?

Fishburn = Deniro (more subtle, brooding), Jackson = Pacino (over the top, but fun to watch them do their thing).

No. Surely he was the best part of the movie, but the entire cast was good.

One that comes to mind for me is Natalie Portman in The Professional. That little girl was phenomenal in her role.

I sometimes wish they would've done a sequel 10-12 years later where she grew up to be a cleaner.

How different would Star Wars have been without Harrison Ford as Han Solo?

A lot of people are naming roles that I would consider co-leading.

Here's one- Stanley Tucci in Burlesque. Horrible movie. Only non-horrible part of the movie was him. The character & movie would be worse without Tucci.

Not having Jerry Reed would have been as big of a loss IMO

Gladiator - Joaquin Phoenix should have carried off an Oscar, not one-note Crowe.

Star Wars.

Okay, it wouldn't have "sucked" but without Harrison Ford? Definitely a huge drop off.

about 80% of y’all don’t have a clue as to what is a lead role and what is supporting. A supporting actor shows up on set for a day to a week or two. Just because ur not the main actor in the film does not mean ur not in a lead role.
