Once Upon a Time In Hollywood

Pretty sure the conceit of the Tarantino revisionist movies such as this, Inglorious Bastards, and Django Unchained is the audience is supposed to be pretty well aware that Hitler and the entire Nazi leadership didn’t actually burn to death in a theater fire in France, a freed slave didn’t blow up the most brutal plantation in Mississippi and the Manson family weren’t brutally upended from murdering Sharon Tate by a pit bull and a flame thrower. Much as that should have happened.

like Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. 300, Marie Antoinette, Hamilton, Pearl Harbor, and JFK (great movie that is a complete pack of lies).

I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood doesn't fall in the same category as the others as he's purposefully creating an alternate ending. He's not trying to push it off as a true story.

They are on a spaceship, Antarctica, somewhere else and some unseen alien entity takes over the mind of a crew member and they start killing. Only been done about 1,000 times.

300 didn't bother me as bad as some of those others. One, it was based on a graphic novel and two, it's almost mythological, anyway. But, anything of European western civilization or (even more so) American history "must" be deconstructed and reimagined for all the reasons you can suspect.

Nonlinear storytelling. I can’t stand time jumps without explanation or meaning.

I’m also not really a fan of prequels. No, I don’t need to know the full story of the werewolf looking guy in the Mos Eisley cantina. I’m good.

I’m cool with sequels, though.

Usually if it is swooned over at some place like Cannes that means it is pretentious dreck, so movies with plots meant to impress the Cannes set.

Good, bag, or indifferent, I live in a different world from those people.

That new show on HBO, Duster. Didn’t make it past the first couple of lines.

Hacking into complex computer systems merely by typing furiously on a keyboard, and during the process we hear a lot of digital noises that ultimately lead to a declaration that “I’m in!”

This sounds like a genre that would produce lots of bad films, but I’m not sure I’ve heard of enough of these for it to be an annoying trope.

You may have to fight Joseph Campbell about this one.

Just because of my personal reasons, animals that act like humans in a human world. Either make them animals in a human world, or make them humans in an animal world. And the Bee Movie is right out.

Dog makes a sacrifice.

Pretty much any time i see a dog in a movie i immediately think, "they better not kill the dog."

I came home one day and found my wife watching Old Yeller. I said what the frick are you doing.

Likely whatever the plot to this is.

And before SirWinston comments without thinking, it's "turns you off".
