The people, not the Zombies. How many years since the virus outbreak, yet they are all fit as a fiddle. Never hungry or eating to speak of. Surely, any canned goods are too old to eat. I never see them hunting. Help me out here!

Hunting and farming have been staples of the show for better part of a decade.

They did a little of that in the early seasons, but you don't see much more now that a few rows of plants that wouldn't produce enough food for a good Sunday supper.

You would need a hella good size garden to produce enough food to feed the number of people they have and make enough to put up for the winter.

They just gloss over that, as well as things like electricity (generators! burning what?) and keeping vehicles (gas cars, diesel trucks, even planes and helicopters on a spinoff) running on old arse fuel or stuff they refine from crude themselves.

But my main issue is who mows the grass along the highways and keeps pastures bush-hogged?

Alexandria has solar panels. I think I saw a windmill at Hilltop. I think Alexandria was the only place with electricity though.

They're using old cars for horse drawn wagons now. We haven't seen anything about the helicopter people so no idea about them.

I guess they could spend half a season showing people randomly farming and hunting animals, but then the show would be even more boring.

According to Eugene in S9E6, they make stew with all of the meat they kill because they get the most out of it. Alexandria has the pond for water. They don't show how water is gotten anywhere else that I can remember.

that’s a good point, but the truth is if this was real, none of the characters would have the time to engage in all these adventures and fighting with each other. They would be to busy just trying to keep from starving!

They talk about it all the time. Each town has vegetation and farming, Alexandria is self-sustaining, etc...

Big disappointment you noticed this. Before each season shoots. Crews go out and find the locations and then put up 'Do NOT MOW!' signs anywhere there could be seen on whichever angle they are shooting from.

Half our town was going unmowed back when the series was popular and good.

I have never understood how the walkers destroyed society in the first place. It seems being a walker just turns a human into a slow, mindless aggressor. The walkers have no ability to organize or use weaponry and they almost always lose one on one confrontations with the living. The only time they seem to get the upper hand is when they have people surrounded.

Hard to believe they beat down the U.S. military.

I think the chaos destroyed everything. You’re dealing with a virus that has a 100% fatality rate and is spread through the air. And on top of that the dead come back to attack you. The ensuing chaos probably caused society to collapse in matter of weeks.

Too bad we never got to see it play out in the show. The original show runner Frank Darabont had plans to show it in season 2 but AMC canned him first. Later they advertised Fear TWD as showing the initial outbreak and chaos but it ended up just skipping through most of it.
