Showtime is doing a Halo series that’s supposed to have an insane budget.

Here’s one that I think is very easily adapted to the big screen: Fire Emblem. I don’t think you’d have to change much and it yields itself well cinematically.

Also Final Fantasy VI. That would be amazing if done properly.

Halo and Bioshock.

No way they could do them well in one movie though.

I'm pretty excited about the Halo show that's going the be on showtime.

2 pages and on Witcher yet?

The Witcher.

But the problem with movies based on games, esp rpgs is how can you effectively retell a story in 2 hours that some people have 20-30x that invested in already. You can’t.

Kojima makes MGS cutscenes feature length movies. Just imagine how long a MGS movie would be.

Shadow of the Colossus.

Itd be super easy too. Guy enters forbidden zone to save dead love. Scale it down to 4 or so fights, throw in some world building flashbacks in between, keep the ending more or less the same.

There is an MGS movie in the works with the director from Kong Skull Island. Kojima is involved too. The director is a huge fanboy of the series so I'm hoping for the best.

Planescape: Torment, although it would probably just come across as a Memento ripoff.

Seaman for Dreamcast would definitely be the most interesting character

Can you imagine GTA 5 on film with Trevor?

Just since nobody’s mentioned them yet, I’ll go with Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but I think they would make better TV shows than movies.

Diablo
Final Fantasy 7
Warcraft (Arthas story becoming the Lich King if done right)
Final Fantasy 6
Half-life 1 and 2
Castlevania (the animated series is excellent)

The question wasn't what book series that turned into a video game franchise would make for an epic movie.
