The guns used in the parks are all lethal if not retarded. They have electronics in them that dial back how hard they shoot if fired at a human, but let the bullet fly full speed when fired at a host. The Mesa could control how hard you'd get hit by a host depending on the intensity of the story you were part of. Ford removed all of those safeguards, though, so the guns now just all go pew pew pew, host or human target.
At what point in the timeline do all the guns go pew pew pew?

someone posted this in last week's thread. it's a running time line of westworld. they update it after each episode (tonight's episode is already added). it's helpful if you're a little confused about when things are happening.

MiB got fricked up. I know he isn't going out like that, but I was surprised with how many times he was shot. Lawrence's whole scene was great.

But if that were her plan it would already be destroyed

Well, I guess technically, if you pointed them at a host, they always went pew pew pew, but if you pointed them at a human, they just went pew. Farther away from Sweetwater where the stories got more intense, they'd go pew pew if you pointed them at a human, but still pew pew pew if you pointed them at a host. Right before the massacre at the gala would be when Ford made them always go pew pew pew no matter what they were pointed at.

IRL it would take months of convalescing and therapy to recover from that many bullet wounds. I expect MIB to be riding a horse next week.

IRL, there aren't murderous robots that look and act like humans, either. You just have to go with it. Maeve slashed Sylvester's throat with a scalpel in season 1 and he was fine five minutes later. They have magic healing kits.
More importantly, WILLIAM has one. Think back to the first episode or so of the season. William comes up on Lawrence hanging upside down over an ant pile and three hosts fricking with him. William kills all three and frees Lawrence, but not before being shot himself. Lawrence and William go to the bar where William busts a hole in the wall to get the magic healing kit he stashed away so he could patch up his gunshot wound like nothing happened.

I'm not making a huge issue out of it in this instance but quick recovery times is one of my pet peeves with hollywood writers in general.
How many times have we seen a character take a bullet to the leg and 30 seconds later running like Usain Bolt?
Doesn't necessarily ruin it for me but it is one of those things I tend to notice in shows.

Back to the episode. I like this one mostly due to Ford. But I'm not sure how I feel/like him uploading himself into Bernard. How would he know something like that would work? How is a single host able to handle two minds?
And next week actually interests me. I wonder if we find a host who's "awake" but not looking to destroy humanity but save it. The whole ghost nation has been needing explaining since the end of last season.

I was late to the party. I have the premise of the original movie in my head. This series apparently goes in different directions and I’m like WTF?

It is a bit confusing since the gun Emily used didn't kill Nicholas, though this scene was before the massacre, it was after Maeve recruits Hector. I can't recall if Hector was killing humans with the guns at the beginning of Maeve's escape.

I think Bernard is as confused as I am at this point.
Posted on 6/4/18 at 10:33 am to Mindenfan
There are two timelines:
1) Bernard is/was with Elsie in the CR4DL and with Ford as Dolores attacks and takes her dad's control unit.
2) Bernard is with Charlotte after they find him on the beach after he flooded the valley. They're actively looking for Dolores and the unit she took.
Mixed in is William's search for... who fricking knows? I'm starting to lose what his motivation is. Same with Ford. I think William wants to destroy everything yet he still thinks he's playing a game setup by Ford. It's tough to keep track there.

i know everyone in here understands this show to the T, but im confused as hell.
Heres what i dont get- Why is it such big deal when a host dies? Cant they just be brought right back to life?

Amen. I was confused by this weeks ending, until i read that timeline and realized that Bernard was retelling his experiences of the last 2 weeks to That board member lady.

quote:I think we are well beyond that point for a few reasons. 1) Who would bring them back and what would their mental state be? Delos wouldn't simply reset them per usual and for what purpose? The park isn't going to reopen soon. And 2) The hosts themselves would know that once they're dead this next time, it's likely they won't have a chance to regain their woke state. Either they will be completely discarded or Delos would use a clean "backup". Which was partially the purpose of this episode. Bye-Bye backups mean that the only state the hosts can be "restored" to is whatever is in the control unit once their body is fixed.
Why is it such big deal when a host dies? Cant they just be brought right back to life?

I thought Ford was still operating because he had had Bernard upload his control unit into the cradle. How is he still controlling Bernard after the hot blonde chick blew up the cradle?
