Every stinking day this is turning more and more into a clown world.
So what happens now, the issue with the families opposing this relationship is now based on race??????

doing nothing of the sort. It’s Entertainment Inc. that is projecting their fantasies of a sub-Saharan African girl I as Juliet with a lily white Romeo.
You’re getting pissy over some random as play in London you do realize this? I’m sure there are hundreds of different adaptations each year.

Got no problem with Juliet’s race for this. That’s fine.
But, she’s just so damn ugly. Wow. Yikes!

I wonder if they will share the revelation at the end that both houses are responsible and their hatred for each other cost them their beloved children and reconcile their differences. Or are they going to adapt the message for “modern audiences”.
I didn’t read the article. Are they casting the entire Capulet family with black actors?

This story has been adapted so many ways so many times I don’t care about race switching. But I love Romeo + Juliet and ridiculous shite like Romeo Must Die.
But damn near all adaptations had an attractive Juliet. I don’t wanna go ole Shallow Hall here, but goddamn. Poor girl got hit with the ugly genes.

Who? Oh, right. Who cares? The STORY is what is being changed here. How are you not getting this?

Am I seeing things or does she have a mustache?

Right....
And only men played Juliet in Shakespeare's day, with Shakespeare knowing only men would play that part.
I'm not sure you've understood what you were responding to.

Shakespeare compares Juliet to a star, indicating her beauty is rare and otherworldly. He also describes her as a dove among crows.
Sorry but casting matters...
When you completely ignore the source material.

It was the #34 grossing movie for 1996. Your viewing may have been the only theater that was packed during its entire run.
It made a $147 million on a $15 million budget. Trying to pretend it wasn't a popular hit movie is ridiculous.
Up until it was recently passed by Anyone But You it was the highest grossing live action movie based on a Shakespeare play.

I'm pointing out facts.
Getting 'pissy'? That's the language of the soy infused 'bundle of sticks' variety.
Which I gather that's why you speak like that.
Shakespear's Romeo & Julliet isn't just some 'random play'. Yes, in London. England. Same country as the man who wrote it.

If this was Zendaya getting cast as Juliet, I doubt anyone would care.
That's some serious naivety on your part.

But current day Hollywood and Broadway are going to current day us whether we want it or not.
It's not being made by Hollywood or Broadway. But I guess not knowing what the hell you are talking about has never stopped you from vomiting all over the board before so have at it.

FFS, as if that even matters? Everyone can SEE where this casting F'd up
I did post prior that 'Entertainment Inc' which is a catch all for US & UK stuff, if that's OK with you, but whether it's Star Wars, Doctor Who, Hamilton or Romeo and Julliet, the wokeifying of everything under the sun is undeniable.
Muh diversity sadly is infecting English speaking countries everywhere.

You haven't even been able to articulate how the casting is "fricked up" at all. The only thing you've been able to to do is assume it will "change" the story somehow.

Because the story wasn’t that Juliet was a man. I didn’t explain because it was self explanatory. The story was about two young lovers. Why not have Romeo be a 45 yr old guy & Juliet a 12 yr old girl? In a burka.
Hey dipshit.
Juliet is a 13 year old girl.

You do know that white guys and black girls date each other in real life, right? It's not some unbelievable fantasy designed just to piss you off.
