It must be fatiguing for the MTV board moderates to constantly, every day, have to take to the ramparts to defend the non-stop dipshittery coming out of Hollywood.

Second, there were Moors in Italy at the time so, okay, no big deal

Yes there were Moors. Moors were not black.

They have a shortcut key for “why do you care?” since that’s their only defense

not as exhausting as it must be to get this upset when a stage play casts black people.

If you gave a frick about Shakespeare this wouldn’t be some new outrage.

Uh, yes?

I was a freshman in HS reading Romeo and Juliet for English class. The theater was packed. It was #1 at the box office the weekend it opened.

I’m a bit older and the movie was trash. Beside its initial novelty and cast there’s was nothing good about it.

It was the #34 grossing movie for 1996. Your viewing may have been the only theater that was packed during its entire run.

But it's not Hollywood. It's a play in London

So why the outrage today for a Black Juliet when multiple Shakespeare characters have been played by Black actors for several decades in various mediums? As well as various productions from reimagining or straight from the page adaptations.

Hell, I think Denzel alone has played at least three of them between Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, and Othello.

Again, it was box office #1 the weekend it opened.

Y’all can be big mad about it but it was popular enough. And again, points out the hypocrisy of the outrage today when race swapping in Shakespeare has been done for decades.

It says nothing about “outrage” you’re just incorrect and using a completely irrelevant talking point as your support. Do you know how many dogshit movies open at #1 for their opening weekend?

I think the "outrage" is that Juliet is being played by an woman that is reasonably considered incredibly ugly.

If this was Zendaya getting cast as Juliet, I doubt anyone would care.

That doesn’t fit their narrative even though it’s already been pointed out. These people are stupid and can only recite what’s been fed to them for long periods of time. New information is digested 10x slower than a normal human.
