I mean...c'mon? Why not just watch the original?
Quit wasting my time sonny.
Its not like original is dated or sucks.
This feels like that Red Dawn remake, which was the most unnecessary thing ever put on film since Caddyshack 2.

The original was one of the most epic movie theater experiences of my childhood. Was the summer before my freshman year in high school when it released.
Glen Powell is a good looking dude. #nohomo #notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat

I see no reason for this movie. I agree with the idea of just watching the original.

Somehow the special effects look worse than the 1996 original. The lead in the new one can't carry Paxton's jock strap. And Jami Gertz.

From the trailer it sounds like 2 different ideas from the storm chasers. 1 was trying to study it, 2 could very well lean in to what was learned from 1 and now taking it a step further to "destroy" a tornado. Sure you could argue they are trying to cash grab off of the name, but if they build off what they learned from 1 to try and do something never before done in this one then this actually seems like a legit sequel

Red Dawn was remake, this looks to be a sequel., completely different.
I have never seen Caddyshack II so I can't say

The original was better than it even needed to me. I heard someone say one time that if you just listened to the audio of the original it would still be a good time. Then you throw in the visual and it is simply a fantastic piece of work. What the hell, I'll give this one a try!

Then how do you stay in the conversation on this board? You have no Compass.

Most rewatchable best-worst movie ever.

The original is my favorite movie of all time. I wore out our vhs copy growing up and still have it.
As a massive fan of the original I’m not all that hyped about this one. I like glen powell too but I feel it will fall well short

Aside from the end goal (destroying a tornado instead of trying to research it from the interior), it seems pretty much like a copy of the original movie.
The idea of rival storm chasers is very, very silly.

Why would you see a movie like this streaming?
Agreed. This is the kinda movie the big screen and sound enhance.

Was just about to post this. How do the effects look worse 30 years later?

I saw a few shot for shot remakes so I wouldn’t doubt it
Just watch the original

Looked fun. I doubt I'll see it in theaters. Probably a wait until it's streaming for me.
If you're going to watch it, you might as well see it in theatres. It's for sure going to be better in theatres than it is at home.
Twister was one of my earliest theatre memories and even though it's not a favorite movie of mine, it was a fun theatre ride. I'll probably see this in theatres for that reason alone.

This is a very loose sequel that takes place in the same universe but with characters who are mostly unrelated to the original film. There will be callbacks, cameos, and minor characters from the original playing support roles, but that's about it.
This could have easily been its own film with no connection to a franchise. You can't make money like that, however. So they have to attach a familiar name to the project.

Because theaters suck and cost too much.

10000% chance this will be a “climate change will kill us all” theme.
So predictable. This is why modern movies suck. Sure there are a some exceptions, but most are just predictable cultish movies for sheep.
And a big reason why there have been so many bombs lately.
A complete lack of originality from the very people who we are told are innovators and artists
