. Linden and Hirsh were immensely talented in being the “straight” man. It takes a talent to keep the crazies from going off the rails and the story not being coherent

And Shelly Long was probably the closest to the "straight man" part on Cheers.Say what you want about her personally but she was excellent on that show.I believe she was nominated or won several Emmys

She was however when they replaced her with Kirstie Allie they really didn’t miss a beat. Rebecca Howe I guess started as the “straight man” but quickly transitioned to one of the crazies.

No doubt but by that time all the other ancillary characters had all developed their own story lines and had bigger parts.Obvoiusly not the case in the early years when the plots revolved around her and Sam.

Kristie Alley was given the keys to a Rolls but she didn't drive it into a ditch.

Yeah I’m just saying she was replaceable. I’m not sure if Ted could’ve been replaced just like I don’t think Hirsch or Linden could’ve been replaced. The shows still revolved around their characters.

The episode where Louie's mom is going to marry a Japanese man and he tells Alex, "Look at him... He's probably pillowed half the Orient!"

Danny Davito was the only good thing on the show.

I remember watching it back then some story that involved Louie (DeVito) talking to the main guy and pouring his soul out to him. Something about how hard it was being him and even having to get laughed at buying his clothes in then husky boys section or something. It was really touching and made you feel bad for him. Then all of a sudden, he turned it all around and jumped back in his cage and started acting like an a-hole again.

Nope...just found it, it was this scene!

The episode where Elaine was forced into going on a date with Louie is priceless.

george was Louie
Jerry was Alex
kramer was Iggy
elaine benes was elaine bardo

This was an actual life experience that Danny DeVito used for the show.

first two episodes

Lots of shows take a while to find their pace.

I had originally stopped watching Wire and Breaking Bad after 2 episodes. Office & Seinfeld i quit after pilot.

When Louie meets his gf's parents, and and he spends the evening being obnoxious.

After dinner, the gf's mother tells him that he can date her daughter, but if she ever heard talk of marriage, she would have him killed.

Then Louie is forced to give her a kiss as they leave.

I watched a documentary about people that can remember everyday in their lives. She was one of the people in the study.

Tv show “Taxi”

random take

i always hated the taxi driving over the brooklyn bridge during the end credits and how shitty they edited the loop of the taxi driving which happens about 5x during the credits roll to make it look like the taxi is on a single long drive. even as a little kid i remember thinking that i could have spliced that better so it looked seamless.
