Fwiw, that's not the Brooklyn Bridge in the shot. It's the Queensboro Bridge
And the looping was intentional. According to the producers of the show "The segment loops several times while the credits appear onscreen, giving the appearance of a taxi traveling on an endless bridge, getting nowhere, much like the characters in the show."

The cuts were awful in the first season, like they don't even give it a thought.
I feel like they became smoother later on, with the cuts happening when text was on the screen.
