The old man scene between Wayne and Roland where they are both fighting back tears was so good. Pizzolato manages to slip a few good one-liners in there and lighten it up, as dark as the show is overall.
Just got done watching and that was a powerful scene. I imagine it will be the chicken lady, but the pacing of this season is great. It hasn't peaked too early like the first season. The action might be a little slow but I love it.

I thought this episode was prob the best so far this season
It’s so crazy how good they make Wayne and Roland look as old guys

That last scene was so good. I've never been a Stephen Dorff fan but he is crushing this role. They both are but Dorff is the surprise. What an episode.

Completely agree.. Ali is good but after watching this episode.. Dorff is holding his own and maybe doing better than Ali.

I think I’ve said it elsewhere, but this episode is the one where my boy, Graham Gordy, took over for Milch who had to go do Deadwood remake stuff. Looks like Graham got in on a good one. He gets produced credits, but he was actually doing much of the writing I believe.
Anyone who knows Pizzolato, knows he is an egomaniac who doesn’t want anyone credited for his “genius.”
Anyway, this episode was where the payoff happened. We’ve had a slow simmer and now things are starting to boil.

This episode was an improvement over the last 2. Some actual good plot development relative to the case and 2 incredible scenes 1)the end of the shootout with Woodard between him and hays and 2) the final scene with hays and west.
Steven dorf has killed it in this one. He completely nails the way of talking and it comes off natural. Sounds like Houston nutt.
I still hate the Wayne and amelia scenes. I just don't care.
The only thing she offered in this one was her book... When Wayne reads it and makes the connection to Lucy writing the note.
A couple of things were done a little cheaply like the cop planting the backpack and some random kid who comes out of nowhere and meets with the cops and just happened to have lived with Julie (lulz).
Final thought... Mcnairy was incredible again in just a few minutes of screen time. He wears the weight of his despair pain and you feel it.

Best scene in the show so far. Outstanding performances from Ali and Dorff.

Really, really good TV tonight
I agree that Dorff is crushing it easily as well as Ali, and I gravitate to the Roland character probably more than any other
Hated seeing what happened with Woodard, it really made me sad
Excellent episode all around

So what is everyone’s thoughts on the Harris guy and what Wayne and Roland did to him? And were they saying that the mom had connections to Hoyt which makes sense since she worked at the chicken factory or was Roland referring to Harris because he had just been mentioned a few minutes before then too? Asking because of Roland’s line where he said something like ‘that guy you just mentioned’ to Wayne. I probably need to rewatch the whole thing

Harris James is the redheaded cop who planted the backpack and he's clearly an agent deployed by kindt to make sure things go the way he wanted. I don't think Harris James was involved in The actual kidnapping or in anyway related to the Purcells.its clear at some point hays and west track him down and torture him for the info they need to find out who he was working for. Once they find out... They bury his arse in the woods.
I think we can also say safely judging by the previews that Tom Purcell is gonna kill Dan Obrien and maybe hays and west help him get rid of the body.
Question I have is it seems like Tom is dead in the 2015 time-line... Wonder if he commits suicide after killing Obrien.
Hays at the end of ep 5 tells west "she could still be out there" so it makes sense that Julie and Tom never meet each other again in 90 and Julie never officially is found. It's possible maybe Amelia actually finds her somehow but nobody else ever learns of it.
