Most terrified I've ever been watching a movie: The Exorcist

Most enjoyable horror movie theatre experience: The Blair Witch Project (1999 original screening); honorable mention Scream (1996) and It Follows (2014)

Most rewatchable horror movie: Halloween (1978)

Favorite horror movie of the 2000s: The Babadook (2014)

Hereditary
Babadook
Nightmare on Elm Street
Paranormal activity(or blair witch, same style)
The Audition

The thing and alien would replace any of those but i dont consider them true horror. Sci-fi suspense.

I should have included in my Honorable Mentions "Suspiria," circa '77, the original.

My favorites I watch every year are:

1. Halloween
2. The Exorcist
3. Friday the 13th
4. Evil Dead

Right now I am watching Rob Zombie remake of Halloween. I've caught bits before but actually watching it now. It's brutal, in a good way. A sad and depressing movie that is brutally violent.

I felt bad for the janitor that always treated Michael good, up until (spoiler) Michael brutally murders him.

My top 5 is pretty the same as everyone else's but I have The Howling in mine. That transformation scene still freaks me out when I see it

Everyone has individual preferences but any list of the top five most impactful horror movies that doesn’t include The Exorcist is shite.

Pontypool
In the Mouth of Madness
The Fog (the original)
The Blair Witch Project
It Follows

I appreciate atmosphere and creepiness over the same old tired jumps cares and style over substance

The Amityville Horror

I watched this movie for the first time this weekend. I thought it sucked. Nothing really scary happened the entire movie. It was very slow, and quite a let down.

Another update:

Watched the 1998 version of "Psycho" last night. Another one that gets a lot of hype, but I didn't get it. Now, this one could have been because I kind of knew the plot line prior to watching it. Next on my list is the Shining. If I can find it to watch it.

A ton of Babadook in here. I just couldn’t get into it. The wife really liked it though
