This dawned on me as well. The road to Hollywood is likely paved with theater work, and cooler to younger kids in drama at school. As opposed to being a decent looking guy/girl here and just going to work with some acting coach

A lot of fans of The Wire did not know (at the time) that Dominic West, who played McNulty, and Idris Elba, who played Stringer Bell, were British.
Good point. I watched McNulty in a magnificent non musical version of Les Mis about a month ago. Such an amazing story when everyone isn’t singing their dialogue every 15 minutes. But that’s just me

To be brief, the wife and I have been doing a “Damn, I didn’t know he was British” thing with a bunch of the “it” guys in Hollywood these days. It’s shocked me a bit. Not just leading role guys but up and coming guys you’re starting to see in really good movies left and right
Has this always been a thing? Damn, there seems like a really disproportionate number ok ridiculous handsome and talented actors from the UK. But maybe im dumb and this isn’t anything new. If that’s true then what explains it? A much higher focus on theater nationally?

Amen to that. Not to spin this as a negative, but my wife and I discussed what % of the latest generations are as intellectually and emotionally sturdy enough to handle what they did in a comparable way. I’d say the number is abysmal

Im so preoccupied with all the different realities I can’t even remember why everyone hates Jason and calls him a rotten prick. I mean, I remember him pushing buddy out the door the one time and closing it?
Either way. They made it look entirely too simple for 3 dead sons to move into a poor 80 year old mom’s house and camp out. She seemed totally cool with everything right off the rip. Most people would run screaming in front of a train

I rewatched the miniseries Gold on Prime (Masterpiece) and noticed a younger Fredward in it. Similar sense of humor (kinda) in a generally serious saga. He’s great. Need to IMDB what else he’s been in

7.2 on IMDB is incredibly solid. Daniel day Lewis flicks all hover around 8. Idk what the highest score is but I’ve personally never seen a 9

Not saying he’s Cruise level, but Pitt has crafted an incredible career like this as well. His batting avg considering the diversity of roles is amazing

I have an absurd number of channel subscriptions on prime and a handful of those use RT, which I observe too
Speaking of which, I’ve been on medical leave for months and had completely slept on what an absolute treasure PBS Masterpiece is. It’s kept me from jumping out of a window. I’ve always loved Uk television and films, and was a shameless Downton Abbey fan. But I was missing out on all the phenomenal miniseries they’ve made in the last 20 odd years. There’s so many I’ve recommended to friends. And many I can wait to watch with my children when they’re a bit older

Just wondering if this is a quirk, or pretty common. It’s been a primary reason I commit to renting something on Prime. And irritates me to know end that Netflix doesn’t use it. Seems like they use to?
There’s some geeky formula my brain concocted where depending on who’s in it I won’t dip below 4.7 - 4.8. If I barely recognize a few of the actors it’s usually mid 6s and up. And I almost disregard for series because they seem to rate them all so high. But 7-8 will at least have me check out the trailer once or twice

Im dying to see what this board’s expectations then reviews of Digger are. I’ve caught no intel on the movie other than I feel like I’ve seen it teased for a year now. I’ve watched the trailer a few times and I just can’t get a handle on what kind of movie to expect

It’s phenomenal as a series. There tons of Snatch-magic along the way. Both halves. But holy shite does it take an insane number of detours and plot twists. All 16 episodes could easily be made into full length features with a few flourishes and some filler. If I had it to do over, I’d probably watch an episode a night, two at most
