Acting, like sports, is pretty relative to the time frame you are in. Watch any old movies and those people can’t act for shite

Never mind True Grit, just watch "The Cowboys" or "The Shootist" and get back to me.

Two of his best performances ever and I can't imagine any "modern" actor playing those parts except for maybe Daniel Day Lewis.

what a terrible list.

Samuel L Jackson is a terrible and extremely successful actor. and just b/c he's a terrible actor doesn't mean i don't enjoy his movies.

I honestly think the verdict is still out on Dwayne Johnson only because he has (understandably) elected to go the action hero route over and over again.

Walk Tall was a dramatic role that he did pretty well at.

I'm glad you brought up Vince Vaughn. He's terrible in dramatic roles.

She's gotten praise for some indies, but I haven't seen any of them. She was good in Panic Room when she was like 12 though.

Could have been an all time great cop/mob movie if it weren't for Stallone.

Great cast and very good writing.

The Oceans movies and Perfect Storm as well. He has been in some rough movies, but it isnt because he couldnt act. Whoever said Clooney is dumb.

What I've learned from this thread, based upon replies and downvotes, is that very few actors fit the bill of "actors who can't act"

However, when there is a thread on "great actors", many of the ones mentioned actually suck according to the replies

He's not really an actor. Just a karate guy reciting lines, like Van Damme and Chuck Norris

I'm not saying Norris is a great actor but he's not nearly as bad as Van Damme and Seagal.

Honestly, Burt Reynolds could make this top 5 list. I like him and his movies, but he's not what I would call a cinema dynamo in front of the cam.
