Just browsing the tv and got excited for a second. The movie “Bandits” is coming on, and I was thinking “Time Bandits”.
I have loved this movie ever since I saw it at the theater in the early 80’s.

I haven’t seen it in at least 15 years.

Time Bandits is a classic. I saw it in the theatre when I was a kid. I would love to watch it again.

Yeah I loved this movie back in the day. It was well before its time.

Plus midgets needed the work after Under the Rainbow.

I rewatched this relatively recently. I had forgotten how fricked of an ending it has.

the ending is great. I am old enough now to appreciate it.
As a kid, this movie was not easy.....in a good way.

It's an interesting ending, and good in its way. It fits the movie and what the movie is trying to say. I think saying that it detracts from the movie in anyway is wrong. But it is fricked and depressing.

I remember that floating head terrifies me when I was a kid.

Terry Gilliam. So it had great visuals and a somewhat dark ending. It really is a classic.

Gilliam and Michael Palin co-wrote Time Bandits.

Four years later was Brazil with Palin acting instead of writing. Great visuals, dark ending (but it really depends on how you look at it). Fantastic movie.

I feel like this fits for Time Bandits as well.

*****SPOILER ALERT******

I prefer to think that the ending frees Kevin to work for the Supreme Being (I seriously doubt they would have left him to his own devices). Metaphorically speaking, Kevin's fate is that of mankind: we are given the awareness of the difference between good and evil and are left on the planet to fight the good fight. From that viewpoint, it's spiritually uplifting.

Plus his parents were complete idiots. Good riddance to them.

The ending was awesomely dark. Yes it is dark. Dude's parent blew up in front of him right when he thought he was back home and safe.

as a kid, I remember being utterly baffled by that kind of ending in a comedy.

I must have fruit!

It really does. For Brazil it was "We've lost him". But obviously he wasn't dead, Sam Lowry had finally freed himself.

As had Kevin.
