I didn't mind 7. It was purely nostalgia. I saw 8 in the theater; Haven't watched it again. So bad. That is what happens when you hand a franchise to a political hack. 9 is just a lost cause. Abrams tried to get back to the original plan, but that plan was ill conceived from the jump. I'd love a "reboot". If other franchises can do it, why not Star Wars? Jump forward a few centuries and tell new stories.

i can still remember the feeling of sitting in the theater on release day SUPER excited only to watch this mom-joke intro within the first few minutes of the film. my stomach got that sinking feeling like...oh, no what is this. and it was all downhill from there.
Could you imagine what Tarkin would have done in response to that stupidity? He would have cut the call immediately and then destroyed a rebel base.
I blame Marvel more than anything, and Taika Waititi and James Gunn primarily, for the advancement of the “retarded humor” that became so pervasive in cinema.

Yep. Really was up there with some of the dumbest things i've seen. I had one person once try and argue that it wasn't any dumber than the Goonie's medallion key, which is a beloved movie. Just had to blank stare at them for a second. You think that pirates, making a landmark key AFTER they buried their treasure so they could find it again, is anywhere comprable to a dagger made many, many years before the death star wrecked?

8 was bad enough that I didn’t even watch 9.
Currently playing Knights of the Old Republic 2 again and Treia, Nihilus, and Sion are infinitely better villains than anything in any Disney Star Wars.
Sion is so filled with hate and rage that he wouldn’t let his body die.
Nihilus was basically a force black hole and leech.
Treia used 3 lightsabers in battle through only the force and was a master at manipulation and whispering in the minds of others.
Meetra Surik is so much better of a female protagonist than anything they could write.

This scene is appropriate for spaceballs, not star wars. Luke throwing the light saber over his shoulder was just ridiculous as well.

All three are bad. 7 gets a bit of a pass because it's the first new one in decades, but it sucked as a Star Wars movie.

No, just no. It was a decent movie and if the entire rest of star wars didn't exist, it would be overall pretty good. As a star wars movie taking into account lore, it was not good at all.

TFA was entertaining and held out promise for a decent sequel trilogy as well as hope for the direction of the SW franchise. Wasn't groundbreaking, but did its job.
Rogue One followed it up and did excellent considering it was a non-Skywalker saga film. Was a very good film, that happened to be in the Star Wars universe.
TLJ and Johnson's "subversion of expectations" demolished all of that and was the direct cause of the failure of Solo (which was a decent flick that should have done better).
Those two movies completely soured the fanbase going forward, which wasn't helped by lackluster TV efforts and "somehow Palpatine returned."
