Wait til you find out that banking turns in the vacuum of space in the original trilogy didnt make sense either.
Star Wars has always mimicked WW2 combat. It was made to look cool, not be scientifically accurate (sounds in space).
Plenty to hate on the sequel trilogy, but you chose scientific accuracy, which was never important to the franchise

I'm old enough that I was there on opening night of Phantom Menace. I remember being a little disappointed, but overall entertained. The prequels got SO much hate. But 7-9 made them look like high art.
So much potential. The first trailer with someone in shadows in the snow igniting a lightsaber, and the return of Han and Chewbacca. Only to be profoundly bitter years later, and the the last 3 being the butt of jokes, It's almost like you'd have to go out of your way to screw the pooch as badly as they did.

X/Y-wings use built-in inertial compensators (or acceleration compensators) to absorb extreme G-forces. Banking a turn isn't gonna make a difference in terms of that when just straight travel results in 3,000G, genius.
It was done to mimic ww2 air combat on screen. I dont know how dense you would have to be to miss that.

it still makes sense to bank and direct the additional G forces from turning down into your seat instead of laterally. WW2 pilots understood that as well.

The in-universe explanation is it is an incredibly draining thing to do and having already been fighting for a while, he didn't have the stamina or energy to be able to do it and still really be able to fight. Which, with him trying to meditate before he finally fought, he was definitely drained at that point.
Now, that being said, obviously that is also just a way to explain it away after the fact, since they make the rules anyways and could have just had it happen. However, I think that is at least reasonable and really isn't that big of a reach of an explanation.

Not only that, but the circumstances of her dying there would have been really interesting. Kylo is going in for the kill, but he hesitates because despite being the villain, he can’t hate his mother enough to kill her. Then, someone else takes the shot and kills her anyways. This could have led to moments of Kylo examining his beliefs and setting up a redemption arc where he abandons the dark side and joins the light.
Instead…Mary Poppins. TLJ and ROS are insultingly awful movies.
