Ok, what was Cassian's arc?

Cassian begins as a member of the rebellion that forgoes conscious in order to to complete the mission no matter how dirty the work. He chooses not to assassinate Galen despite orders and transforms into a Rebellion member willing to trust Jyn and others to complete their mission without making morally questionable decisions.

Or the Asian guy's arc?

Chirrut is the symbol of belief/faith in the force. Throughout the film, he espouses that faith in the force will result in success. At the end of the film, he puts his philosophy to the test and shows his faith to be correct.

It's like these people who say there were no character arcs or development didn't pay attention at all.

But pretty much none of them pass the Plinkett Test, so it's hard to take notice of their arcs if I don't know how to explain the characters themselves. JJ Abrams took great care to make sure they passed that test. Rey passed the test without a single word spoken by her. That's good filmmaking. A Last Airbender speech on hope isn't good filmmaking.

One: lol. this isn't the end all be all of characterization in a story

Two: the main characters most certainly do. Shiiit, people who just described the arcs for you just showed they do pass the test and you're still saying they can't. Ridiculous

Like I said, it is like people don't even watch the movie (or read comments in the thread they are in).

I had to google "plinkett test" and "the last airbender." So if you'll google the definition of "confirmation bias" we will both have learned something today.

Finally saw it tonight and oh man that was awesome

Better than TFA by a good bit IMO, and I liked TFA

Agreed. If one took the characters and score from TFA and combined it with the plot, action, tone, and storyline of Rogue One, you'd get the perfect Star Wars movie, i.e. Empire strikes Back.

Reading through this thread and seeing many posters state that once James Earl Jones is gone so is Vader

Is that really true? Technology is only getting better and better and he's such an iconic character, I think we will see him for a long, long time

I believe the poster was suggesting that technology will allow JEJ's voice to live on.

I believe we all agree with you, too.

Just got back from watching with my kids. I loved it. Thought it was much better than TFA. Really tied in with ANH. Vader was awesome.

Wish Lucas was not in charge of Episodes I, II, and III.

Also saw it today with my two sons. We absolutely loved it and they HAD no idea about the General or Leia in CGI :)

The air/space battle scenes were done beautifully.

Holy hell the Hammerhead Corvette scene Rocked!

Just saw it and really enjoyed it as well. Ton of well done battle scenes. So Episode 8 this year and another one of in 2018?

Episode 8 in December 2017. The next stand alone is the Han Solo story in 2018...was supposed to be May, but looks like it's being pushed back to December.

Yes I was saying this, his voice will never change to any significant degree

I have seen it three times now and it is one of the best SW movies out there. Had no freaking Disney feel to it which made the movie as compared to TFA.

My kids are all young but they can quote all the movies sometimes very annoying when they do but they have seen it twice as well and want to go again. TFA they saw it once and was not excited about seeing again in the theater.

Looking forward to this as it should introduce how him and Chewy became friends along with Lando and the Falcon.

I think Disney's loving these December slots. There's really not much competition for something like Star Wars.

I saw it over the break. Seeing Carrie Fisher CGI in the last scene on the day she died was kind of surreal.

Finally saw this tonight - my brother and I were the only ones in the theater. Saw it in 3D and had a blast. I could not have been happier to see Vader kick some arse. I know I'm extremely late to the party, but they did a good job of tying up some minor plot holes from episode IV.
