I think you must have slept through this scene. The guy trusted in the Force, which protected him, to guide him through enough laser fire to take down a small city and to save the day. He accomplished that and only then died by that overwhelming laser fire.
That's not badass??? Serious,Clark?

About halfway through I realized since this was a movie about how they got the plans to the Death Star, and none of the characters in this movie are in episode 4, they were all going to die :(

I'm saying it should have been a bit more like his opening scene where he kicks the Stormtroopers asses, only this time there are too many of them.

Yeah, some people didn't realize that. I knew that going in, though.

They were out-numbered, flanked by three fronts of troopers, 50 yards or more away. He couldn't have fought his way out of that. His faithful devotion to the Force was his only way out...and it worked beautifully.

"dumb points"
I didn't make it passed the 2 min Mark. That slurred speech about the film not having enough "context" nearly made my head blow up. Any credibility he could have had went out the window at that point. For Pete's sake! This is a Star Wars film for Star Wars fans with enough explaining of main characters and subject matter to properly grab the attention of first time SW viewers.
In 1977, Vader just shows up and starts killing and taking prisoners...I guess we needed more context there, too....geez.

Slurred speech? Have you not seen his prequel reviews, which are some of the funniest videos ever put on the internet? He's a parody of Buffalo Bill, which makes his points from a psychopath even funnier.

Confirmation bias is the circle jerk that is this thread right now. He didn't give me the idea that this movie was simply mediocre. I do have a hard time believing how anyone can say this measures up to the OT or even TFA.

I didn't say he did.
But you did look for write ups that agreed with your opinion and presented them here as if it proves you're right.

Lol. I don't think you actually know what confirmation bias means

Well thankfully they went with the much better and more meaningful scene, showing he was someone who trusted in the force and the force protected him so he could complete his mission.

Few are claiming that. However, it definitely measures up to TFA. The characters aren't as iconic and the score is subpar, but the action and plot are better in my opinion. Rogue One found me having to suspend my disbelief a lot less often than TFA. Rogue One showed a ton of promise for future films as did TFA. I went from pessimistic regarding Disney's stewardship of the franchise, to optimistic and a little hyped.

He obviously doesn't, but the funny thing is his accusation is an example of confirmation bias.

I knew going in that the trailers suggested they would survive, so yeah I was actually really surprised when nobody made it out.

To be fair, we haven't had 3 movies to bond with them yet. Rey herself may be on track to be one of the great movie heroines if she can keep it up. Kylo was purposeful in being fairly pathetic and was a good character. Poe can be expanded on in the sequels.

Rey immediately mastering how to force persuade.
The Starkiller base eats the sun with zero gravitational and limited temperature consequences for the surface of the planet.
There were few moments in Rogue One that left me feeling "there's no way that should work." "That shouldn't happen". There were multiple moments like that in TFA.
As far as characters being iconic, Ray, Fin, and Poe were outstanding, and far better and more fleshed out characters than the ones in Rogue One. I still don't know the pilot or the male lead's names.

Not necessarily depending on what is revealed in the sequels.

As soon as I posted that, this passed through my mind.
Also everyone being able to see the destruction of Coruscant from that planet when it would have probably taken decades if not centuries for them to have seen from there. And Han just happening to be near Jakku where the Falcon was.

I love TFA but that starkiller stuff drove me crazy.

Wasn't Coruscant. The Hosnian System was destroyed by Starkiller Base.
